I'll be honest - Cipher being Godolkin wasn't my theory originally either, but something I picked up from one of the review channels, but it made perfect sense once I heard it. And just like you, I was skeptical at the end until the very reveal happened. But still, it's a very nice twist, and the clues were all there, but it was never obvious. The writing in this season has been phenomenal. Marie was very frustrating in this episode, however. She seemed almost uncharacteristically stupid the way she just dismissed Annabeth and her premonitions. But when you think about it, it does make sense - Vaught's method of telling the supes they are better than everyone else is working, especially on these young minds. It also fits well with one of the main themes of this whole franchise - power, and how it corrupts. The more powerful Marie gets, the more overconfident she becomes. It'll be interesting to see where they take her character from this point on - will she be the ultimate savior of humanity against Homelander, or will she become yet another villain? Whatever happens, the finale is going to be epic.
