2023-12-22 19:57:27 +0000 UTCYeah Christmas traditions are so different, my Italian boyfriend said he eats pasta and lasagna for Christmas and they drink wine as always. We usually have a glass of wine after Christmas Eve dinner but it's not traditional 😅 I think you may be right about sweet things, the sweetness in every dish is added by dried fruits or honey 😁

I'm Polish too from Lublin and Christmas for us was also presents on christmas eve but we were told this was Santa too it was like we got socks and sweets on the 6th and proper gifts for Christmas eve. Our uszka are wild mushroom filled which we pick in Autum earlier that year, I tend to make them because I have small hands and can make them nice and small for the barszcz. I don't know about you guys but we not only don't eat meat we also dont eat anything sugary which is why makowiec and kluski z makiem because I was always told that's why we use poppyseed because they are a sweet alternative to sugar/chocolate etc. As well as no alcohol which now being with a English partner they think we are crazy because christmas here is all about meat, sweets and alcohol, it's about eating a packed plate of roast dinner, spending time with family drinking and eating sweets to your hearts content.
