Bonus Bits #11

Tom: Hello! As a little extra Bonus Bit in-between newsletters, we've filmed a playthrough of Joyride - the game featured in our latest review! Check it out right here.

I'm joined by the ever-lovely Rob and Kylie for this one, and I'm sure they'll be back for similar videos in the future. We'd ideally love to be in a place where we can release these little Let's Plays for any main-channel reviews that suit them; so that each video comes with a side-serving of showing how it actually plays on a real table with real hands and real pals (rather than the fictional pals and hands used to make every SU&SD Video beforehand - a tried and tested formula).

But please do let us know what you think of this! We've been hearing that people want playthroughs, and we're working on a stable way of getting them filmed. It's been a weird year for getting things on the steady, but we're nudging towards it one video at a time.

How does the pace feel? Is the teach useful? Audio okay? Do we like the cosy setting? Any suggestions that you have, ping them in the comments if you're on Patreon, or send me an email directly at tom@shutupandsitdown.com

Thanks!

This was wonderful. Such a nice an friendly playthrough. Collaboratively discussing the moves of everybody makes it a lot more interesting to follow. The setup was really excellent. Also great to see Kylie again on the channel. And... I'm not sure, but was that Rob, the hero of Operation Overlord in Stalingrad?

Also really enjoyed seeing the playthrough, and while the review covers the basic rules, this gives a better idea of the flow of a game. How positions shift throughout the race, the importance of higher gear etc. So I look forward to more playthroughs. I have wondered why they weren’t a normal part of SUSD, but I guess they do take quite a bit of effort to do. I've watched a lot of No Rolls Barred playthroughs which are also entertaining, no doubt due to them being very good at "acting up to the camera" and introducing drama that way. Sound and setup was great, never felt I missed out on what was happening. Rob and Kylie (also Tom) were great.
