SAG-AFTRA Podcast Guidelines Announcement

Today SAG-AFTRA released new guidelines for podcasters to follow for the ongoing Hollywood Strike. Abnormal Mapping will of course be adhearing to all guidelines and ensuring that we don't cross any picket lines this summer!

What this means: Repertory Screenings and Block Busters will be on hiatus until the strike is over. However, we already have some ideas for replacement content for $5/month patrons to produce in the interim, that I think is going to get some people pretty excited. Nothing set in stone yet.

For GGP and Beach House, we are waiting for clarification as to what to do for our anime coverage. Anime is produced under entirely different companies and is not struck work, but it is licensed by the streaming platforms that are being negotiated directly with, so may fall under promotional material against struck companies. The Gundam Movie trilogy is on Netflix, and so we are holding that episode's release until we are sure as to the guidelines are for covering anime during the strike.

Voip Life will also be delayed, the one we recorded this weekend is entirely about movies, but aside from a short recording delay Voip Life will continue as expected.

GGP will be back next week, either with our planned episode on Soldiers of Sorrow, or with Gundam content not avaliable on struck platforms. Either way it goes, I think the podcasts are going to be great. This isn't a huge disruption besides being caught unprepared today. Pivoting to alternative content is not a heavy burden and obviously a leftist network like us is going to honour the strike. Fuck the studios. Solidarity.

See you later in the week with a future announcement about the specific changes that will be coming. Whil we have some exciting ideas, we haven't made any final decisions yet, so feel free to comment if there is anything you'd like us to cover that isn't struck material, while we're still finalising our plans.

Thank you,
Jackson!

What email should I forward it to?

Thank you! That would be incredibly helpful just clearing up this ambiguity. Good to know about TV series though, I was anxious our dennou coil episode/00 season would also be affected.

So, I *also* checked with SAG-AFTRA for my own anime podcast, and the good news is that anime TV series (and presumably OVAs in a similar format) are fine. They do want films (that have received dubs) checked on a case-by-case basis, so I'm running the Gundam Compilation Trilogy past them along with a few other movies that are likely to come up on my podcast, either for review (Vampire Hunter D), or in general discussion (the Heaven's Feel trilogy), which is why I threw those in. If you like, I can forward you the Emails I've received.
