When I found a pink feminine hoodie in my son’s room last month I wondered who he was dating. He never had any girls over I didn’t know about before and had not mentioned meeting any new young ladies. Not trying to embarrass him anymore, I talked to my sister, Courtney, asking her advice. She suggested that I start subtle to encourage his gender exploration. I purchased nail polish and a few makeup items and left them for him on his bed. It may have humiliated him at first, but at dinner I saw he had tried putting the glittery, purple nail polish on… although obviously needing a bit more practice on his feminization considering how sloppily it was put on. When we finally started talking about it, I encouraged him to talk with female friends about his feelings since perhaps they could do a better job connecting with him than I could as his mother and could encourage his femininity as well.

A few weeks later, he came home from school told me he wanted to show me a video. He pulled up his TikTok to reveal that his female friends asked him to try out for the cheer squad since being on the team would mean extreme feminization! The video showed two other cheerleaders revealing his new look in a cheerleading uniform with white sneakers and a feminine hairstyle. I can’t believe how beautiful he is as a cheerleader! We hugged each other and I told him I would love him no matter what. Perhaps we could soon redecorate his room with more feminine decor since there would obviously be more female friends over and slumber parties with the other cheerleaders.
