March 2023. Q&A Part 2

Hello Everyone,

Part 2 of the March Q&A. Apologies for not sending this yesterday as promised. Had a bit of weird day.

Bye,

Gary.

March 2023. Q&A Part 2

Comments

Lori - I wouldn't bet on the $100/mth tier working. Seems Gary doesn't have a dedicated person handling this yet. I personally figure that for $5 month it's worth it to be another Patreon supporter of Gary Numan. I support 3 other creators who post content on YouTube that I am interested in at the $5 level also. I figure if I want to support Gary Numan more than that I'll buy more of his music and merchandise. He toured the US in May with shows in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Fort Wayne, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, etc. Hopefully if his shows did well he'll be back next year. Worst case plan on driving ~300 miles to another city and getting a motel room and seeing the show, sleeping back in the motel room for a 2nd night and then driving back home for a 4 day road trip. Definitely go with a friend to share room and gas costs if you do. You have a year to save up and find a friend willing to buy their ticket and go with you. Good luck. https://garynuman.com/tours/

Got the 100.00 ghost for a few months. Probably no luck still. Didn't get a free autographed bookmark with the Autobiography, paid over the pond shipping just to get one. Oh well, book is amazing! So far no Chicago shows coming, so I guess I should go down to 5 bucks. Question, Gary, anyone, is somebody manning these chats and questions here? I'm not really familiar with how this site works completely I was just trying to donate to get free tickets and something fun maybe of an email. Maybe an autograph. But I think I've seen one video or two and I don't know if the patron was going to work out from what Gary said as an intro. Am I speaking here to the Patriot person which is Gary or am I speaking to a chat room of people who are fans? I also got double billed 100 bucks so I got to figure that out

You could only buy the pre-sale if you clicked the link Gary posted on Twitter, (I’m guessing he did on Facebook too but I’m only on Twitter) or else it sent to the Friday sale rather than the Wednesday. I managed to get two tickets, for two venues, all by 9:01am on the Wednesday (helps I have an account, so I was logged in, my info pre filled in & I Apple paid, pressed back & repeated for the second venue) all in around 90 seconds. It seems a lot of people didn’t realise you had to use his link only. Seems many clicked a link for the general sales advertised around the place, or just went onto the website without clicking on any links- both which sent you to the Friday sales, not the pre sale on Wednesday.

There wasn’t one

Was there a pre-sale release of tickets? not seen anything

I had the countdown on from 8am. It let me select 3 seat tickets for Brighton then when I clicked on buy button it asked me to click on pictures of taxis then click on pictures of zebra crossings, then it came up with "Sorry, we were not able to allocate the tickets you requested. Please change your selections." With no option to change to. Then I called my Numanoid friend from 80's who said she was getting tickets for Hackney and she would get tickets for me, but when she booked seats were not bookable only standing, so she got me those not knowing my situation with being unable to stand for long periods as I haven't seen her in about 20 years. This is why I usually go to tour rehearsals in Brighton because I know it will be seated although it is a lot more expensive. Gutted here as well

My friend got 2 seats at Bristol but all I got was currently unavailable, I was on the countdown for an hour before too, gutted πŸ₯Ί

It seems (but I could be wrong) you can only buy standing tickets at venues, if it is a seating only venue then you will get currently unavailable. My friend got me tickets for Hackney as Brighton says "Currently unavailable". I now feel obliged to per her the Β£90 although I cant use the tickets as am 65 and can't stand for long periods. Extremely peed off with lack of pre-sales ticket info for fans to be honest

Brendan Eden-Jones

I just keep getting currently unavailable 😞 am I missing something?

Louise Freeman

All I am getting when trying to buy tickets is "Sorry, we were not able to allocate the tickets you requested. Please change your selections." With no option to change to. A friend I haven't seen in years who came with me to 79/80 and 81 concerts has just purchased three tickets (one for me) for both nights at Hackney, but they are standing tickets and I am unable to stand for long periods, hence trying to get in early to try and get a seat. So the tickets are a waste.

Brendan Eden-Jones

If you go to https://www.gigsandtours.com/tour/gary-numan?pre=artist and click on venue there is a countdown to 9am for pre-sales tickets

Brendan Eden-Jones

The G&T link I'd saved last week, which took me to the pre-sale, now seems to just go to the sale on Friday. Also curious as to what's going on.

If anyone knows how to buy presale tickets which are supposed to go on sale in the next hour, would you please post here as a few of us want to buy them but there seems to be no official information about how to purchase them. Many thanks

The information is always great and I thank you Gary. I really enjoyed the part where you shared how you write the music, how you feel too much is around that you cannot grab it all. I completely understand that, as it sounded so similar to when I write. I wonder if you can tell us another time if lyrics and/or the music enter your thoughts/head the way words come to me, its almost like a supernatural kind of feeling, I am unable to write as quickly as the words come to me, so I lose many sentences and changes of direction. Perhaps in the future some machine will be able to hook up to our thoughts and type out all our emotions, words etc. Pretty sure I wouldn't like that kind of intrusion, definitely a Big Brother is watching and listening to us all now!! Although it could be useful for us artists πŸ˜‰ I believe you are humble, very modest and you share your reality which is why I appreciate your time and dedication to your music, Gemma, your family etc. I hope you find yourself able to be less down/ doubtful, even pessimistic maybe, about your qualities, talents, and being the fabulous caring, loving husband of which Gemma regularly mentions on her posts. Looking forward to hearing and seeing you performing soon, together with Raven and buying her first album when released. As always I am sending a hug with my best wishes and thanks for the Patreon posts πŸ˜€πŸŽ΅πŸŽΆβ€πŸŽΉπŸ™

Finally found some time to sit, relax and watch your q&a parts 1&2.

Jenny

I have recently joined your Patreon and I don't really know why I held back as I have followed you since 1979. This is wonderful, albeit with acknowledgement of the torrid times you and Gemma are going through. I have to say I am absolutely gutted that the tickets for the 1000th show sold out so fast. April 15th is my birthday and it would have been fabulous to have been there. Hope it all goes well, whilst I sit in my room and sob as I miss it! Keep this up, absolutely love it. Thank you

Hornsey66

Thank you so much for such an honest, thoughtful and introspective answer to my question. It seems like your feelings of inadequacy, of not being good enough, fuel change.. they drive you to explore possibilities which would elude you if you were completely satiated with life. Ironically, your feelings of inadequacy have perhaps led you to the extraordinary.. as a fan, I am so excited by what we have yet to experience from you. Great to meet you and Dave in Spokane. So glad you liked the painting. Much love to you and Gemma especially ❀️.

Thanks Gary, always interesting to hear these Q&As. I can't imagine choosing a set from decades of material. FWIW I think you do a great job picking them. Given that I have literally dozens of 'favourites' I know I'll never get all of them at one gig. Which is fine! Just have to go to lots of gigs πŸ˜„.

Paula Robinson

I recognize a repeat question -- at least one -- this time around: about whether Gemma and the kids play Machine+Soul when they are angry or to make you angry. Answer was worded differently but meant nearly the same. Including that they usually say they miss the rain and want to move back to England. πŸ˜†
