Ugh, another tight situation. I was doing some late-night shopping for my school graduation. Normally, I’d go earlier, but my date dragged on longer than I expected. Not that it was a good date; the guy just wasn’t my type, and something in his eyes made me feel unsettled. So here I was, trying to pick out dinner outfits just 30 minutes before the store closed. I already had my dress, so I figured finding some clothes wouldn’t take long. I grabbed a sleek black miniskirt, some classy black pantyhose, and a stylish top to match.

As I wandered through the aisles, the atmosphere shifted. The store felt eerily quiet, the fluorescent lights casting long shadows that danced along the walls. With every step I took, the sound of my heels echoed, amplifying the silence around me. Stores usually buzz with activity this time of night, but here, it felt like I’d stepped into a ghost town. A shiver ran down my spine as I glanced around, half-expecting someone to jump out from behind a rack.

I paused by a mirror, adjusting my hair, and it hit me—where was everyone? I peered through the glass at the dimly lit store. No employees, no customers, just rows of lonely clothes hanging. Was the store even open?

A quick glance at the clock on the wall confirmed my fears: just 15 minutes until closing. I quickened my pace, glancing over my shoulder, half-expecting to see someone following me. The emptiness felt suffocating, and for a moment, I thought maybe they had locked me in without realizing it. The thought sent a chill through me.

As I reached the front of the store, my anxiety peaked. There were no checkout lights illuminated, and the registers stood silent, waiting. I pushed the door, but it didn’t budge. Panic clawed at my chest. I was trapped.

Just as I started to speed-walk through the clothing racks toward the emergency exit, it hit me. I felt eyes on me, a prickling sensation that made the hair on my neck stand up. I spun around, searching the empty aisles, but saw nothing. My heart raced, pounding against my ribs.

I resumed my hurried path, trying to shake off the creeping dread, but then I heard it—fast footsteps, echoing off the tile floor. They were distant at first but rapidly grew closer. I flipped around again, my breath hitching in my throat. Nothing. My instincts screamed at me to run. I dropped the clothes I’d intended to buy, my only thought now was to escape.

As I sprinted, my stupid heels rolled beneath me, and I tumbled onto the cold, hard tile. It hurt like hell, but I didn’t have time to think. I scrambled to my feet, limping toward the door. It was locked. No security, no other customers in sight. Panic surged through me like a tidal wave.

Then I saw it—a set of eyes peeking over one of the clothing racks. My throat closed in fear; I couldn't even breathe. This person hadn’t done anything yet, but I knew I was in big trouble. Suddenly, BANG! The relay clicked off, shutting down the rows of fluorescent lights. The eyes vanished.

I had to hide—what else could I do? I’d left my phone charging in the car, thinking this would be a quick trip. I was so wrong.

Fight or flight kicked in, and I ran again, kicking off my heels. I headed in the opposite direction from where the eyes had been. At the back of the store, I found a thick circle rack full of winter jackets—the perfect hiding spot. I slipped into the center, grateful for the 360-degree coverage it provided. I could wait them out; by the time they checked every rack, it’d be morning.

Just as a wave of calm washed over me, I was yanked from the rack by my neck. Before I could react, a strong force bound my hands behind my back and covered my mouth with a piece of satin-like material, shoving it deep into my throat. Something tight wrapped around my face, pinching my nose and blocking my air. Panic surged as my body screamed for breath. My diaphragm convulsed, and darkness closed in.

I woke up where we are now, staring at the video he took.
