AAG - Chapter 55!

At 15k words I was thinking about cutting this chapter off, then it got to 16, 17, 18, 19 and finally nearly 20k words and I really decided I needed to stop. Lot of information given this chapter, but it was a fun one to write. Hope you guys enjoy it. So, please, let's chat about it in the comments and as always, thank you so, so much for your support! :-)

AAG - Chapter 55!

Comments

Maybe, but they already have to suspect he has a way to make faster than warp 9 just given how fast he's appearing during crises situations like saving his freighters. Or Torez's home planet. He hasn't exactly been subtle about it. Im reasonably sure Section 31 knows he can make incredibly fast trips. Starfleet in general might not be aware but I'd be really surprised if 31 isn't. Those guys are incredibly intelligent and paranoid. Besides if he did save Voyager (while also making a few side trips for advanced delta quadrant technologies) he'd be a hero yet again.

Fortunis

If he does that he can never reveal himself to the USS Voyager without Starfleet finding out he has the capability to cross 76,000 light years in short time.

Darren Burns

Is it? Or is it to make the wormhole so massively costly a target that the Dominion dies on it or can't touch the planet anyway? Being passive never means safety. Look what the Cardassians did to them when they were pacifists. Besides with his technologies he could easily turn the inside of one of the moons in to a massive starbase/shipyard. Deathstar style. Yeah I know, somthing somthing timeline. And he's trying not to piss off the wormhole aliens. I'm just saying, he could be doing more. Hell he could find an out of the way uninhibited system near Bejor and do all of that. Then the planet would still be safe and his Defense Force would finally have some teeth to be used at the right time.

Fortunis

Gothic knows that Bajor's best defense is to not be a threat. Just like in Canon.

Durdens Wrath

I wouldn't mind seeing that. Or the Borg timeline where Riker was panicked and ended up destroying his ship. He could bring the entire alternate Enterprise over and give them asylum on Bajor in exchange for their Galaxy class ship. Starfleet couldn't do shit about it because they can't interfere. That'd give him a shit load of trained spacers, a new ship for Bajor (along with the Marauder) as well as whatever information they had on Borg in their database. Hell he might even end up raiding a Borg cube if played his cards right. The Nanites alone would be worth it. Look what a few of those did when they accessed a futuristic mobile emitter. Imagine if he put together his tech base, added borg nanites to it and then let it grow. He'd have ridiculously advanced technologies to play with.

Fortunis

The Borg. I know they were apparently destroyed in this universe, but is there a chance he takes his ship to the Delta Quadrant when Janeway and crew get stranded? (Assuming that still happens). I think it'd be awesome if he could perhaps find an old Borg battle field somewhere and scavenge the fuck out of it for technology. Those fuckers had literally thousands of civilizations tech bases to choose from. Even a fraction of that would put him so far out of reach tech wise nobody could touch him.

Fortunis

The entire rant about the readiness of the Federation is on point. My question is why doesn't he take his own advice? DS9 guards the wormhole sure, but the planet is still vulnerable. Not to mention they have jack shit for ships. Unless he's planning to give them the Ferengi Marauder? My point is he could easily give Bajor highly advanced ships without giving them his proprietary technology. If he did it right he could even build sections for an orbital station and ship yard that'd be solely owned by Bejor and didn't have all the fucked up Cardassian system issues. Have it built in sections and hauled in to place via cloaked cargo ships then have its internal repair systems and holo engineers put it together. Just my two cents.

Fortunis

That would definitely be cool to see

War sage

I've been thinking about the Alternate Universe episodes we've had and I had a thought it would be kind of cool to see Our Gothic travel to a Alt Timeline where a Alternative version of him exists the timeline is pretty close together but this Alt Gothic fully integrated into Section 31 not becoming a Admiral of Bajor or a well know figure instead all of his Art is released via a Civilian Identity that S31 creates for him Separate from his Gothic persona

stephen lyman

And I just saw that email come through! Man I think Torres would have easily made it into many a dream modeling that style of dress!

James Wise

That's exactly what Gothic is worrying about, and even then, it's only likely to be a handful of planets. But once one planet has one and they get to see it in action, others will follow.

Joseph Orlando

I was more talking about Gothic's skin nanotubs then the nanites but you have a point. Oh I agree, the fact that Gothic's detection grid is comparable with Starfleet certainly helps. Oh I agree the Federation needs all the help it can getting prepared for the Dominion War, though I worry the defense grids is all that's going to happen for awhile but still better then nothing.

War sage

Theoretically he could be in any of those stages. Depends on how long Gothic was on Bajor for the war, and how long it's been since then. It's been years at least.

John

Yeah, I wasn't feeling a Deanna/Crusher scene in the last chapter. Maybe that will change. And I'm also not sure how I want to play the Wesley stuff. Is he in the Academy right now? Is he in his disgraced era at the Academy right now? Is he back and having his existential crisis before leaving the Academy? Or is he off with the Traveler trying to learn to be a super being? He's kind of irrelevant to me except for the laughs, so I'm not sure what to do there.

Joseph Orlando

Yeah, Worf at this point in the timeline was a bit of a tool. He gets better as the years of DS9 went on. At the moment, though, I'm greatly enjoying using him to add conflict in various scenes. I didn't see that font issue you're describing, but I'll take a look. Thank you for your longtime support! :-)

Joseph Orlando

They are like cockroaches and the Empire is so corrupt, they likely weren't executed. So, yes, there is always a possibility of them showing up. Gothic was a playing it a little fast and loose in his dimensional traveling, especially because it helped him meet his chaos quota to move on, but he wasn't taking chances with them, so no kids coming from that direction.

Joseph Orlando

T'Maz was wearing the same gemstone strewn dress as the others. Gothic only puts her in her ancestor's famous bodysuit on special occasions! :-) Thank you! Yes, the Romulan sidearm is a pretty cool weapon really. I'll admit the foreshadowing wasn't intended, but I'll happily pretend and take credit for it. No, the forcefield thing is a result of the nanites in his body, essentially he's mimicking what he saw on ST: Voyager. We saw 7 of 9 sample a forcefield in canon than walk right through it after she used her Borg nanoprobes to change her body's bio-electric field. That wasn't an Augment ability. The hostility is essentially based on what the Augments did in ST: Enterprise. They took a Klingon ship and killed the crew. Than Augment DNA almost led to the destruction of the Empire and the Klingons lost their cranial ridges for a time. The Klingons haven't forgotten these things, even though a lot of that was their own fault. He and Section 31 pretty much cleaned up that scene. IT was necessary or else that Damon's gruesome death later on might have been laid at his feet. I just posted the images those dresses were based on. He knows he's gotten on his soapbox a few times already and made many of those points before, but he's really trying to do what he can to prepare the Federation for the Dominion. He did and in some ways this provided valuable data. The detection grid works. The detection grid isn't a new idea or new technology. Starfleet knows it works. We saw Data use it in that one episode of TNG. The problem is is that it can't be applied on a large scale, but it can be used to guard against cloaked ships in a local vicinity, like near the planet. It's not innovative or new technology, but proof that at least Gothic's defense net does it well and it works. Which will be another reason why people should consider it. Thank you for the comment and for your longtime support! :-)

Joseph Orlando

Thanks for saying that! It reminded me that I should include some of the image sources I consulted. I just added that post.

Joseph Orlando

Great chapter! I like how Lauren is making a nuisance of herself in interesting ways. I would love to see the dress described on Torres as well! Bet she looked much better than the Dumas sisters!

James Wise

Great chapter Ahhh even in the Federation of the 24th century, politicians still gonna be politicians. I will agree T'Maz is ride or die and of all Gothic's harem she is my favorite as not only is her character so well flushed out but so is her and Gothic's relationship. Wait considering T'Maz outfits based on T'Pol's how did Lauren....you know what moving on lol. Lol Gothic idea of injection I like the irony of T'Maz using a Romulan disruptor, als I like the little foreshadowing about the Romulans. Wait considering the examination Crusher did when Gothic first arrived, wouldn't the possible of Gothic being able to walk through forcefield be a possibility? Lol eat shit Woof, though I'm curious about the hostility Worf has against Gothic. Surprised Gothic didn't bring up that he was nearly escaped an assassination attempt on Earth in San Francisco of all places or is that keept on the down low? Nice, I like the dress designs and while I know B'Elanna isn't exactly fond of hers I can definitely see her pulling it off. Hmm Gothic's theory about Starfleet policy change and size is certainly something to think about. Ha I had the feeling the Romulans may show up, atleast they weren't able to send any intelligence and Gothic got a good test for the system. Considering the fact that system can see through Romulan cloaks I can see people within both Starfleet Intelligence and Starfleet Security putting their support behind which hopefully will give Pressman an aneurism. Keep up the great boss

War sage

Would b'etor and lursa make any future appearances cause I’m interested in knowing what has happened to them and from what I gathered about lursa she has a child and it would interesting if her kid was gothic.

Mark

Another nice chapter. I love how he keeps slapping down Worf, On can hope it will eventually make him a better person. The font in random places seemed to get smaller not sure what was up with that. Looking forward to more.

maddsloth II

You missed an opportunity for a Dr Crusher reconnection, which is then interrupted by Wesley. I don't even know where Wesley is at this point in the timeline, Enterprise or Academy or commissioned in Starfleet, he'd still find a way to walk in on them lol.

John

That is very high praise. Thank you!

Joseph Orlando

Definitely successful in my opinion. No, that wasn't Lwaxana. Just like countries can have many, many ambassadors, Betazed has many too.

Joseph Orlando

Well, I think "identified and then held a cloaked Tal Shiar spy ship in Federation space until it destroyed itself" counts as a successful test of the system, lol. It was a bit strange that Lwaxana was just referred to as "the Betazed ambassador" or Deanna's mother and never by name, even if she had no speaking lines. Tyr being completely unexplained by Gothic was great. And I have to say that some of the most satisfying parts of this are when you demonstrate all of the disparate, superior techs that Gothic has gotten in previous chapters, like the Vidiaan scanner. It's up there with last chapter seeing Carl use Phaelon star charts and I, Robot tech to start mining asteroids no one else knows about. This font size is much better than in Ch 54, IMO. It strikes me that every Federation planet that gets the GODS system is essentially giving Gothic another 10 to 24 light year bubble for his burgeoning spy map of the Alpha Quadrant, including the ones he sent out a while ago.

John

Loved it; Just finished a full re-read and as is so often the case, I got to the end of the chapter only to despair at waiting so long for the glorious fallout

Mr Mouse

It definitely fits what we know about the Romulans. They'd want to assess how this changes the game personally. In some ways, even the destruction of their scout ship is a data point as it proves that the defense net's tachyon detection grid can detect their cloaked ships, even a small scout ship built for stealth.

Joseph Orlando

Another fantastic chapter can't wait to see the fallout and how he's going to get an in with those nosy bastards rofl

Joe

Oh, they would be shocked and offended. Our society would give them culture shock, even though we're humans. We'd be like aliens to them.

Joseph Orlando

a really great chapter as always!! i love it and i can't wait to read what might happen in the next chapter : )

maben00

Bah! If they found his humor unsettling here, then they would be horrified by the depths our internet could sink to.
