Linux Audio Interface Testing Survey (a.k.a Garbage Day)

Comments

I have a Behringer UMC202HD, but I am not super happy with the sound quality. I think the preamps are noisy, and also it disconnects often and gets stuck needing a power cycle. Maybe it's not it's fault, hopefully I will find out when testing other gear as well.

I have tried it on a laptop using KXStudio (then active and up-to-date) Live DVD installation. It wasn't anything antique. Maybe it was a strange USB issue? I had a very limited time to test that device, so I wasn't able to thoroughly inspect what's going on, but it wasn't being detected in JACK.

Interesting. I have heard Focusrite gen 2 onwards works with Linux, but when I tested something many years ago it didn't work. I assume it was gen. 1.

My studio interface is Focusrite Scarlett 2i4, 1st gen, still works flawlessly (knock on wood). Would be interesting to know do the newer generations of 2i4 or 2i2 also work on Linux or not. My mixing PC interface is Echo Mia 24/96 PCI, also a good old interface with a good sound.

I already have the Behringer U-Phoria UM2 is why I didn't pick it. Its a nice cheap unit that works really good on linux. Like to see some 2 mic input devices and see how those work.
