Some folks sent in some lewds for me to study, so here's a couple more. Spyderslut (on tumblr and fansly) sent in the first one, and the second is from a semi-anonymous person named Maya.
I call these studies particularly because I'm largely sampling colours directly from the source photos. There's this interesting effect that reconstructing something yourself on learning; I used to edit pixel art a lot as a teen, modifying sprites from Cave Story and stuff, and It's actually a tremendously effective way to learn. It forces you to closely examine the source material, and see for yourself how each part communicates the whole. With pixel art, I learnt loads about how small clusters could convey detail, and how to use a limited colour palette. Now, studying photos, it's a good way to experience how a given absolute colour looks in context. I'll sample a skin tone, and be like, "wow, that's literally blue-grey", but that's context baybey
Anyway, I slapped some richer filter layers onto the second one after the fact cos it came out a little flat. And I had a lot of fun replacing Spyderslut's coffee table with some kind of immense obsidian block
