Tom Dujardin 1960. Eldest of three in a modest, middle-class family. His father worked long hours at a factory while his mother took care of the children. From an early age, Tom took his responsibility, often helping with repairs at home and taking on odd jobs around the neighborhood to help his family out. These experiences and a natural talent for practical skills, set him on a steady career path.

Starting in construction right after school, he quickly rose to a foreman role, earning a reputation for solving difficult issues on site. His success in managing projects with skill and care led him to start trading metal components by his late twenties. In 1989, he founded Dujardin Metalworks, a small venture at first, but as he grew strong connections within the construction industry, the business rapidly grew. By the early 1990s, after the economic decline in the sixties that devastated Rinsdale’s industrial economy, Tom was one of the first to reintroduce raw industry back to Rinsdale. Supplying durable metal frameworks and structural components to construction projects closeby and across Europe. Filling the holes in the market others left.

Nevertheless, Tom’s true passion was birdwatching. He spends weekends in quiet natural reserves, equipped with his camera, capturing shots of rare species with the patience and focus that defined his career. His bird photography remains a private hobby, although he supports local photography galleries, a subtle nod to his love of art and nature.

Married to his wife, Marian, since 1985, Tom had a lovely family with two children: Lucas, who has recently joined the family business, and Sarah, who is studying veterinary medicine.

Now at 64, Tom Dujardin continues to build on his legacy, quietly maintaining Dujardin Metalworks as one of the country’s leading metal suppliers. Beyond his reputation in the industry, his extensive network across Europe has also made him a valuable connection for many. He values hard work, modesty, and dedication, qualities that are reflected both in his professional achievements and the simple pleasures he finds in life.
