Alright, so...
Added 2025-11-03 04:57:12 +0000 UTCThe poll kinda went about as I expected, maybe even a bit more lopsided, so I cancelled it early, since the trend is your friend. Though doing the poll was still the right decision, if only to confirm some things.
Now I basically just need to decide whether
to cancel some ideas I had and do something else,
to go through with it anyway and accept the fallout, or
to give up and stop making games, after all.
Oh well, I guess there's still some time to decide.

If you're truly tired or stressed about making games, you can always take some time off and see if you regain the inspiration to release a new game, or the desire to continue with one you put on hold. And if you feel more comfortable not working on any more games, then you can retire. Similarly, you can always do random polls on Patreon without it necessarily being related to any project, or post random images without it meaning you'll release anything new, just in case it helps you regain your motivation to keep making games. In the meantime, I hope you regain that peace of mind. While I wasn't making games, I was subtitling series, but a situation beyond my control took away my desire to continue with that, so I completely understand your reasons for not knowing whether to continue or not. Ultimately, the decision is always yours and depends on whether you feel like continuing with your hobby-part-time job.

It's just that the poll results felt as if most voters consider that "other content" a showstopper regardless of whether it's fully avoidable, so I'm not sure how to deal with that right now. But, I guess losing something like 50-80% of supporters would technically still be less bad than closing shop entirely... still not an easy call to make, though.

The only potential issue I see for others with similar tastes to me is if too much of the dev time is spent on those kinks then the updates can end up feeling kind of empty.
