It took a while, but I've been working hard on making Dine Out Reloaded better for players. More customization of restaurants and new features await in v3.3. I listened to a lot of feedback and came up with a few of my own ideas to hopefully help players make their journey from food trucks to franchises. Here's what's new.
Diners Can Now Place Own Orders
Get ready to roll up the canvas and grease the grills, food trucks are coming to town! Diners Place Own Orders is now an option in the settings menu. For standard dining groups, the lead diner will head up to the new Diner Order Beacon object to place their order. If you fail to place one of these, Sims might go behind the chef station so make sure to find one in the restaurant objects category or search for Carl in build/buy.
Walkup Orders
Single Sims might show up if this option is turned on. They'll head right to a Diner Order Beacon to place their order, and once this is done, take a seat to await their food. They will slip right into the normal restaurant flow. These Diners are bad at standing in line so I suggest you consider not using Max Waiting Groups to keep things chill.
Delivery Orders
When enabled, the Delivery Orders option will allow Sims to make online orders in a way that is proportional to the restaurant's star rating/advertising. Up to 5 can be placed at once, so this setting is sure to keep even 2-3 chef restaurants busy. I don't suggest you do this with a lone chef. You WILL fall behind.
Spawn Guests Closer & Faster
There is a new option, Guests Spawn Closer which will make diners appear in the area you would when traveling to the lot, instead of the edge of the neighborhood. This drove me nuts, and I'm sure some of you will appreciate this. Reloaded 3.3 will also try to spawn guests faster (those in a group together).
More Customization
Regular Diners can now be disabled, and both Walkup and Delivery diners are entirely optional. For example, you can do only walkups, only delivery, or a mixture of combos. Turning off standard diners is a good idea for food truck gameplay, focusing more on the walkups and deliveries.
Take Seat
New interaction ‘Take Your Seat’ on standing diners. This will have them go back to their assigned seating, should something go wrong. Just one more little quality of life improvement players have requested.
Waiter Efficiency
Players complained about how I had set up waiters, and rightly so. They will now react much faster and not rely on tables being dirty and used at the same time to bother to clean. They will always be on top of it. This is especially helpful if you use multiple waiters.
Important Stuff to Know!
Delete both the mod/package and your settings file. I've redone defaults to remove max waiting groups, and there are new settings to take advantage of in this update.
Delivery orders absolutely do benefit from the farm to table system, so you can still make use of this for both deliveries and walkups.
While we already have Mark as Main Chef Station to designate where a player chef would be cooking (to prevent NPCs taking over), we also now have a Mark as Delivery Station. This MUST be turned on for at least one station for your restaurant to be eligible for deliveries. The Delivery diners need a routable location so you need to make sure it's a station they can reach the front of.
Delivery orders do NOT work with the Sous Chef system. I figured players would prefer to be able to set an NPC to do the deliveries (marking their station as for deliveries) while also still benefiting from the sous chef system for regular orders.
I've included many improvements to make the order system more efficient.
Players can now turn cows into meat on their restaurant lot. Many players requested this, as they like to live on the restaurant lot. Feel free to use your cows to take advantage of the Farm to Table system.

Maybe try deleting your settings file. Sounds like something is wrong with the install. Should be named Carl_Dineout_Reloaded_Settings.ini - make sure you don't have any old copies of the mod installed as well.

I do not see the options to add a bar nor do I see the option to make customers pay at the door. I can't even see where I can click to add deserts and main courses. It looks like the old download with no new stuff.

I guess the community has been spreading this fix for various issues. I need to understand how it's interfering as maybe I can make that option not needed in order for restaurants to work correctly.

2024-02-18 08:34:52 +0000 UTCI had this issue without Carl's mod installed, it's a bug happening when "Allow household to gain celebrity points" is ticked off! Try ticking that option to allow celebrity gain, reload the game and it should work! (at least it did for me- good luck!)

2024-02-18 01:48:10 +0000 UTCI have removed all other mods and cc from my game except "McCmdCenter" and have the latest "Carl_DineOut_Reloaded_v3.35". Not only do no cooks, waiters, or hostesses appear on the restaurant lots, but no bartenders will appear at any of the bar venues, except Cottage Living. When clicking on a bar top to hire a bartender the response is that there is already a bartender on site (but really there isn't). I cleaned everything out of my game, including re-loading all my packs and had the same result. What else can be done?

I know this was not any behavior I saw, but something must be causing them to do this and I will investigate. 2023-06-07 04:09:53 +0000 UTChost and waiter works if you have other sims in the household. Just bring them in the restaurant lot. however, only 1 can play as chef. I use other mod to hire 1 of my household to be my sous chef and it works since I can still control my hired household sim.

2023-04-22 10:57:46 +0000 UTCThis might be an issue with the maximum amount of Sims in the game. I'm sorry this is happening. Deliveries are supposed to be able to spawn regardless of the cap. Sometimes the game decides not to spawn them in. I tried to "rescue" this by waiting some time and seeing if no one showed, but it seems like it's still failing for some reason.

It might just be a glitch but I am watching the sims that arrive and how quickly he puts the bags up. At the end of a shift there are zoomer bags that I have to delete that arent picked up.

I did a backup before of course, but I did add this mod back into the game (after the latest base game update and new Growing Together pack) and I haven't had any issues that I have seen yet. I played for about 5 hours with it. Nice to have my restaurants functioning again! Lol... I tried to play with just Dine Out and without this mod for a few days... and it was terrible. No servers in any restaurant. So thanks again Carl for saving the game! I honestly appreciate your work so much!

Meaning chefs will keep cooking for the take out/walk in orders. Also, I'm noticing people come in that have stars over their heads but then it disappears and they won't go sit down sometimes?

One thing I noticed in v3.3 is sometimes the sims don't pick up their delivery orders and you can only go into build mode and delete them. Not sure if there is an adjustment to the setting you could make that they could be thrown out or something once you close the restaurant. The glitch happens occasionally. But love the delivery and all the new settings you added. Thank you for the hard work!

I love what you do to fix the problems in the game and I would love to play this mod but I keep running into all kinds of exceptions to the point where I just can't. I've sent, at least, one exception but I'm hoping that whatever fixes that need doing for the new patch will include this one. :-/

2023-02-20 01:50:11 +0000 UTCHi Jessica. You can hire staff from a list of Sims or your Sims can work themselves in the restaurant. I recommend at least three Sims in the household to be a host, chef and waiter.

One of my favorite things to do in The Sims 2 Open For Business was to run a hybrid bakery/cafe where I would have displays with food to go or the option to dine in and be served coffee/cake/etc. I would love to be able to recreate this in the Sims 4. With big mod updates (or arguably with any update) it's good practice to delete the old mod files before putting in the new ones, rather than having them be overwritten. And since some mods, including this one, come with extra config/settings files, sometimes those need to be deleted as well, so they can be recreated to suit the new version of the mod. (Note -- not always; I don't delete my MCCC configs unless an update requires it, since those are my saved settings.)
