It still breaks my brain that someone who did pure gag comics with talking poops in slippers would, over a single decade, manage to successfully morph his style into one of the most influential and trendsetting battle shonens — only to then go back to writing gag mangas after he didn’t have to do Z anymore. This guy is a mood

Before Dragon Ball, Akira Toriyama worked on a manga called Dr. Slump where the main character was that girl at the end, Arale. It was decently successful and it's largely because of that that Dragon Ball even exists, so this is Toriyama esentially paying tribute to the series that got him started. All you need to know is it's a gag manga.
