Hi folks!

As you remember, we’re working on adding a second story branch to Lyralei’s tavern shenanigans in chapter two. It will feature a number of different stories about Lyralei as told by Luna. These stories are more like the classic scenes from the first few acts than the scenes from chapter five, most of which happened in the tavern only. Each story is a sketch with a little plot.

While working on the script, I decided to try the approach we first used in Dirty Deeds – complex scenes, where each scene may have multiple variants or even sub-variants depending on the player’s choices. This fits with the new mechanic, where the player guesses what Lyralei did to force her to drink. It’s a drinking game just like with Luna, but in reverse – now Luna asks the questions and tells stories, sometimes allowing herself to embellish them a little.

We managed to write the script for 4 such sketches over June, each bigger than any other regular scene, and all together they can rival Act 1 in size. Each sketch is a large scene with multiple branches, similar to what you’ve seen in Deeds. We will release 3 sketches per update, so the script for the first update is already complete.

We’re also hard at work on the art. We’ve almost finished five scenes over the month, currently finishing up the backgrounds, making small edits, adding facial expressions and other things. The first slice of our ginger’s new adventures will be released this month and the rest won’t take long either. I think we’re going to end up with 3 or 4 updates covering this new arc. Flamie and I are still debating whether we should have 8 or 9 “cases” and discussing the endings.

It’s a curious coincidence, but we’re preparing Lyralei’s “old” stories together with the new. Our animator has finished the first scene of Act 2 and its characters. I hope you’re enjoying watching his efforts through the WIP videos we’re posting.
