Just always be cautious especially today to give to people who actually need it and will use it for good. If you give to charities etc. or if you get stopped by those people with clipboards to give to charities, always say you will check out their website and organisation and then donate. Unfortunately, there's evil people and just desperate people but who are sick and don't get the help they need and use it for drugs, alcohol etc. Unfortunately, if someone doesn't want to change and get help then we can't do anything and even if we think giving them money for the things they want will at least make them happy and satisfied for a bit, I refuse to help people go even lower. I would gladly give them the means and opportunity to change their lives and get clean etc. but they don't want that. For example also buying them a meal or something rather than just giving money which will go to waste. But also for children and mothers as well I guess the best would be organisations, clinics, and people trying to fund those things in your country like you said there isn't much help, so anyone trying to build things I would donate to and help. Lastly, always make sure you don't go out of your budget, and end up in hardships, if you don't help yourself, you can't help others.
