Luna Snow - Summer skin

Over the summer, I worked on a few different summer vibe pieces. Unfortunately, I wasn't completely happy with them, so they ended up shelved on my drive. Seeing as summer is now ending, I've decided to release them here on Patreon for you all to enjoy. Hopefully these sun lit, beach themed pictures can rekindle your summer spirit, as the warm weather starts to trail away (at least for us northern hemisphere folks).

The first picture I want to share is one of Luna Snow, using her amazing summer skin. Initially, I made this picture as a study of the Marvel Rivals art style, to see if I could capture the look of their in-game MVP animations. My plan was that, if it worked, I would then try to do other characters as well, and make a little Marvel Rivals summer collection. Sadly, I wasn't fully satisfied with the result. Being an NPR shader, I was forced to work in Eevee, which comes with it's own set of unique challenges. While I like how it looks overall, the quality and flexibility of the lighting just isn't there yet, and will need further work. Eevee is regretably not very powerful when it comes to custom shaders, and forces you to use a lot of tricks and work arounds to get good NPR results. Blender actually does have an NPR branch, which I would like to check out some day, but for this project, I decided to see if Eevee would be capable enough.

I used a model made by TMC, which came with a standard Daz style nude body. This was not sufficient for my task, so I created a new nude body texture that was more suitable for the Marvel Rivals art style. Maybe I'll share the texture/body someday, as I would like to see people make more Marvel Rivals content that's in the style of the game, rather than mixing stylized characters with photo realism.

I also experimented with animating this picture, but struggled to find inspiration. At one point, it was just her lounging in the bathing ring and then turning to face the viewer while raising her sun glasses, ending in the pose you see in the render. It felt very pointless, so I shelved it and just stuck to making a picture.

In all, it was a fun little project, but didn't feel quite post worthy, especially seeing how different it is from my usual "art style".
