Project Plan August

Well, with all the recent talk about the Corruption Ending, I think it should be clear what this month's primary goal is. Before jump into the project plan, I would like to spend a couple of words to discuss the ending structure.

First of all, as I mentioned a bunch of times, 1.0 is only scheduled to only have two endings. The Good Ending and the Corruption Ending. That being said, even though there are only two ending types, there will still be a lot of ways for your decisions to influence the ending through your decision making an progress in Roya.

The way it works is that the game will use an Epilogue System a bit similar to what you maybe know from Bioware games. Although there they used slides, in our case you will be presented with a series of scenes that work pretty much exactly the same way as Corruption scenes, triggered based on progress and decisions in Roya. The sceens themselves are intended to be a bit shorter than most Corruption scenes in order to not drag out the ending. But some of them will have quite a bit of dialogue and plot going on.

These scenes will be framed by two story structures, one being the "Ending" that is the final content of Chapter 3 and the "Final Epilogue Scene" which serves as a commong end point for the epilogue scenes to ultimately return to.

The two ending types of 1.0 correspond to two Ending Frames - The Corrupt Ending Frame and the Good Ending Frame. Epilogue Scenes are largely bound to an Ending Frame but might also be shared.

Example: If you partially corrupt Paulina into a maid (but don't finish), she will most likely in both the Good and the Corruption ending join the City Lord of Trademond as his maid.

Usually, I avoided having major variations in Corruption scenes, since these variations tend to spread their tentacles from one scene to the next, causing long-term branching and potentially exponential scene complexity. The Epilogue scenes on the other hand don't have a very long story structure, so here I would like to include plenty of variations. Both minor or perhaps even triggering a different scene altogether. Some of these varaitions will not just be based on decisions like corruption companions but also on the general progress.

Example: John will in the corruption ending become part of a Resistance against the demon army. If the story has progressed beyond the Reverse Summoning Ritual, his resistance will be successful, otherwise not.

Those who played it will know why it's important, haha. With this structure, you will also be able to get "good" events (such as a successful resistance) in the Corruption ending and "bad" events for major evil decisions (such as companion corruption) in the Good ending.

The system is limited through the Ending Frames though. Like I said, there will only be two, so don't expect major variations on the frames. In the Good Ending, the Final Epilogue Scene will most likely always include George and Aura being together, for example.

There's of course a bunch of details I need to figure out over the course of the next weeks as I write and implement this, but I believe this should give plenty of reactivity to the player while extensible for lots of additional ending variations for post 1.0 content.

Now, with the structure out of the way, let's jump into this month's project plan!

Week 1:  I will be working mostly on the Corruption Ending Frame. The Corruption Ending will consist out of one more event on Eartha and a final major lewd event in Roya. The Final Epilogue Event will also be a lewd event but without a lotI hope I can finish it in the week, otherwise---

Week 2: I will be finishing it in week 2. And then get started on the Epilogue scenes. Epilogue scenes from now on are basically the new Corruption scenes and while I only plan to have dedicated weeks for adding them in the months where I make he Corruption ending (so this month) and when I later make te Good Ending. I plan to add some more Epilogue scenes here and there, or variations to them, during Polish Weeks.

Week 3: Trying to get to get to a satisfying amoung of Epilogue events by the end of this week to conclude the main work on the Corruption Ending.

Week 4: It's a 5 week update, so I get a week off. And as usual, while I will be taking a couple days of vacation time, I will also be using the time to do some networking as it's time for this year's Gamescom again.

Week 5: Hopefully, Chapter 3-B will be closed out by now and I can working on Chapter 3-C content. I want to start the work by finally picking up on the desolate Entertainment Den area and start working on a new gamble there. There will be a cheating bad guy, ways to countercheat, a good guy trying to win back wife (or daughter) from slavery, and Vice ways to fuck him over. I have yet to figure out the exact gamble, but given the opportunity of Entertainment Magic, I would like to do something that involes some sort of Board Game like mini-dungeon.

The gamble won't have dedicated lewd content if you lose it. Instead, just like with the Entertainment Battle, you will be given the option to take one of the Entertainment Mage's contracts again. For this I also plan to expand the range of available contracts at least by one, ideally two.

And that's my plate filled to the brim for the month. Let's conclude the post by quickly taking a look at our freelancers.

RPGMaker Dev Assistant + Assistant Writer

Besides applying some finishing touches to Demoncrazy, they will be starting work on the first Expert-Ranked Adventurer Guild Quest taking you to the last major side dungeon area of 1.0 - Clockwork Forest.

Pixel Art

I have some negative news here. Sadly, after enthusiastically agreeing to the work load last month, our pixel artist has suddenly stopped contacting me. I have pinged her a couple of times over the past two weeks but gotten no respons. So we need to consider the possibility that for reason she suddenly decided to ghost the project. Oh well...

2D Art

No change here. Our artist is sill working on the next Fighting Over Richard H-CG.

Aaaaaand that's the plan for the month. See you all for the prerelease on Friday then!

“Ya know, like BioWare.” Is a based game design principle.
