Before I get into this week's prerelease post for Liora, two other quick items: First, I will be doing a separate prerelease post for the SKA prerelease I announced yesterday to deliver the new CGs as there are a couple other minor technical items I would like to mention there.
Then, second, I will be switching up the schedule a bit and turn next week into an SKA dev week. The reason for this is that Deniis currently estimates he will finish updating the Liora sprite by Sunday or Tuesday but I may have further comments regarding the sprite so we can use it productively. And even then, I would like to have some progress on the Rean sprite so I can have some better vision of him before I write more of his dialogue.
So next week will become an SKA week (focusing on updating the Festival of Greed event and adding the Betrayal Lewd Scene), the week after that I can hopefully then begin work on the intro and then in the first dev week in July I will replace the SKA week with a Liora week.
Okay, with that out of the way, let's talk about what's new in this prerelease build for Liora!

The major focus this week is item related. First, Edgar is now generally capable of using items in battle and second, you can make clauses forcing him to do so. Currently, the only battle item he can own are bombs (which he can craft for himself) but those already help in case of getting stuck on a boss fight. When his prestige decay sets in, Edgar will also be willing to use his items out of his own volition without needing any clauses to force him.
The other major item feature is that books are making their return. While Liora won't have a focus on them (so don't expect a lot of gaining passives related to them), they will still fulfill their role of being a way to powerup for cheap but for a significant time investment.
You can also give Rean a book for him to read, although he isn't quite the reader. I gave him a passive called Slow Reader that extends his Reading Time by 5 for each book. Edgar will autonomously buy books for himself and read them.

Besides regular stat books, we also have three books that give access to a new type of skill we didn't have in SKA: Teamwork Skills. Teamwork Skills are conceptually a bit similar to the Bond passives in SKA as their effects scale with Relationship. In contrast to the other books, only Liora is capable of reading these strategy books.
All the Teamwork skills here have a theme of working with Advantage and being passives but I could imagine there also being an active Teamwork Skill with ranks for Rean and Edgar each in the future.
Aside of these, we also have a bunch of minor additions like Mana Stones making their return (called Mana Pills here and giving only +1 Max MP for everyone besides Liora), new disease passives for Rean and so on. Check out the changelog for the full list - it's a new game so there's a lot of this kind of database work to do.

The second major part this week is mapping work. I iterated the castle area as far as I could - the level design in the end parts of the area don't really make sense right now as I need to add new enemy types and minibosses there. But doing so at the moment would be pointless as without a second side dungeon it's too difficult to progress to the point where fighting them becomes possible. But still, it's another big map down and remapped alongside a couple of other maps. There are still a lot left though... Step by step!
I think that covers most of the changes. There are a couple of other minor additions like an updated logic for Jump Points (they now cost HP but can be done by any party member), but nothing really crazy. Mechnically, I think we are getting into a pretty good position for the 0.1.0 release, it's mostly content development that I need to push on now.
