WTDL Patreon Devlog #17

Hello to every new and old faces! This is Libra and I have a devlog for you to know the progress of the update development. I also have some news to share with you.

First things first, this month's update will be Toast's route! We will be resuming the haunted hotel arc, ooh spicy. We also will be releasing a brand-new CG, so check out the preview for now. Look at that, Kobu in water.

So, development so far:

1. Script Writing: Complete
2. Script Editing: Ongoing
3. Programming: To begin upon completion of editing
4. New Music: Still in development
5. New CG: Completed awaiting implementation
6. New SFX: In development

So, moving on to the news, now this may be a downer, but I won't tell people to look away. This is coming from me personally, Libra the writer.

On Sunday, which was 9 June 2024, I was on the panel at Furality for the FVN developers. Three hours after that, I received news that my father had a stroke and had been hospitalized. It took some time, but he's receiving treatment. It was a shock, it was the scariest 24 hours of my life, and I don't imagine it getting easier after this. So, personally I have to reorganize funds to support my ailing family.

I find it important to share this with you all, to discuss the future of WTDL.

Will the game continue development?
Yes, as long as I can write, as long as we have a team that can bring it all together, we can keep going. More so now than ever before, because this has always been a story about life throwing you hardships, and finding companions and the strength to go on especially during times when you can't quite see the end yet.

Will development change in any way?
At the moment it's hard to predict where changes may occur. I plan to continue writing as is, and continue with our already in development plans, but if changes occur, I will let the Patrons know. Even financially, WTDL is fully funded by its Patreon and itch.io earnings, meaning it doesn't need me to keep feeding it. It's always has been and is our goal for this game to be self-sustaining, and to one day make enough to even be a profit. So, to you, our supporters, you have been a big help at keeping this game going and is one of the many reasons I can say we can still keep going despite what has happened.

So that's all I have to share about now. Let's briefly peer into the crystal ball, next month will not be a WTDL update, it will instead be a Kibbleton University update. So, this is your first reminder to check your tiers and check your release schedule for KU, because it differs from tier to tier. More news about that after we release Toast's update.
