Thank you Ed πŸ’™ and thank you for your additional thoughts, I read all of them. The only thing I'd say is that I agree Jimmy wasn't always like this. I frame it the way I do in the video because I'm trying to persuade those that think he was πŸ˜‚ so I think at a certain point I give them the 'he was always like this' to attempt to argue that it doesn't matter and Chuck was still wrong that he was destined for this. I maybe muddied my argument a little there haha. Seriously thank you for the kind words, and thank you for watching πŸ™πŸΌ I'm also sad that this journey is over. I don't have to be careful of spoilers anymore so I'll keep an eye out for videos 😊

I decided to become a Patreon today to get access to your last 3 videos; I could have waited 3 weeks but you deserve a bit of my dosh. I love you for the effort you have put in for us. Your videos have been absolutely amazing. Watching this video is almost as sad as when I watched the finale for the first time because your videos have allowed me to relive Better Call Saul through a new perspective. You've allowed me to stay engaged and excited for the show despite having finished it. I just left a long waffley comment talking about the finale and show as a whole which probably makes no sense and I'm not expecting you to read it because it's so goddamn long but I had so much to say and hopefully someone looking through the comments will take interest haha. I guess this is all a testament for how with this show there are always more details to discover and new perspectives to take. There are loads of video analyses online I recommend you watch because there will be things you missed out. But overall thank you so much for this journey and your dedication. I know it's been hard. Lots of love. β™₯️

Breaking Bad's ending is perfect, however this one is so much more sad. In Breaking Bad Walter was destined to die the whole time; the point of Breaking Bad is it's about a man out of time, and hence why it has a faster pace than this show which takes its time showing each of the big and small character details, from the characters' schemes to their microaggressions in each scene. Anyway, this show didn't have that idea of a character's destiny. It's a prequel so we know where characters end up in Breaking Bad yet this show puts a whole new perspective on how we see them, so we know Jimmy did not deserve the destiny of prison. Chuck put Jimmy on a road (or a "maze" as you've referred to it as) and convinced Jimmy that he couldn't get off. Mike was manipulated by Gus that he just had to accept who he was, which led Mike to convincing Jimmy there was no way off that road. Even in episode 3, Nacho put Jimmy in the game and convinced him there was no way off. This is a road we know Jimmy should not have been on, so it's tragic just seeing him go further down it. And it leads to this devastating ending; the cheery Jimmy McGill who had a spring in his step has no choice but to now be in prison for life. He got off the road but too late. The ending doesn't have a bang like Breaking Bad but is empty and black-and-white with the quiet music from season 1. We don't know what will happen to Kim, but it's just sad seeing them smoking and thinking about what was and what could have been. It's the atmosphere and the emptiness which really do it for me. It's so fitting that Kim is the one to make Jimmy change his mind. The whole show it's always been about her; she was the one convincing him to make so many of his decisions, both the good and the bad. And particularly in Bagman when Jimmy was about to give up all hope, Mike reminded him that Jimmy should keep going for Kim. And while all of this is about changing, in a way it's also about Jimmy realising he is incapable of stopping himself. Jimmy put himself in prison because he knew he would be a danger out on the streets and that without Kim his only pleasure would come from engaging in crime. So in a way you might be right that maybe Jimmy was like this from the beginning, but still that doesn't mean he always had to be like this. Chuck could have pulled him off but didn't, though you're right that even though Chuck was driven by ego he did do a lot for Jimmy. Though thinking back to the flashbacks with Jimmy as a kid it does feel more like he wasn't quite like this from the beginning, but it was made his nature from an early age. But yeah the whole show is a tragedy and so many bad things could have been avoided, especially when you consider the impact it has on Breaking Bad too. This show shows us Mike's path to evil, the harm Gus has done to himself and Jimmy's avoidable turn to the dark side which all have devastating consequences in both this show and Breaking Bad. And two episodes ago when Francesca spoke about Mike's money being taken we're like "wow it was all for nothing". In the end of Breaking Bad we similarly found out everything Walter and Gus did was for nothing. And here in this episode we're shown the fate of Jimmy. It was sad watching this ending, but it's just as sad watching this video. I already had the feeling of "oh no this is all over" (not only in the context of what happens to Jimmy in the show but also actually finishing the show - however the former reflects the latter beautifully) and now I have to do it again. This video series was a great way to let me engage with Better Call Saul and stay excited despite having finished it, and now it too is over. Luckily the journey isn't quite over as there are always new details to be spotted and perspectives to be taken with this show - that's why I've loved your videos so much. There are loads of good video essays I'd recommend you watch as they will tell you lots of details and themes you haven't even thought about yet.
