Loved your analysis as usual. As you did watching this episode, I began to suspect Helena to have taken the place of Helly in the severed floor. After all, Milchick didn't discover much about what the others know of what happened during the OCT. What better way to have their answers than Helena being the mole inside ? Just another manipulation.
And clearly, Lumon is being extremely manipulative during those first two episodes. And all that because, for some reason, they absolutely need Mark to complete Cold Harbor (whatever this is). It completely works with the allegory they developed so far in the show. Patrons need their employees to do the job, to make money. They are nothing without the workers. But that puts them in a position of weakness so they use everything they can to make the employees think it works the other way around. They make them feel as if they are replaceable and inconsequential whereas, in reality, a company can work without a specific person at the top (we begin to see the model of cooperative societies and it works pretty well) but no company can succeed without the workers.
I already loved Devon during season 1 but she is becoming a top tier character for me. I hope she will be able to make his brother open his eyes. In fact she might have already done it because Mark asked Cobelvig (love this name^^) about Gemma at the end of this episode so it's clear that the seeds of doubt have already germinated in Mark's brain.
I'm glad you mentioned the fishes in the aquarium. As soon as I saw this scene, it was obvious to me they represented severance in Mark. Not only there are two fishes that are clearly separated but one is red and the other blue. In the credits Mark always wear reddish pyjamas and Mark S always wears a blue suit at work so I think it is clearly intentional. And speaking of credits, I love the new ones for season 2. With the emphasis on brain structures it is possible that reintegration will be an important theme. And, I'm not sure but I don't think it is babies Irving at the end but babies Kier.
Still very enthusiastic about discovering this season with you (even if not in real time) and I hope you take care of yourself. Bye.

I love s2 just as much as 1. It has different strengths and will get into loads of complicated ideas that really suit the way you look at the show and do these vids. Should be fun.
