The episode is fun but I didn't really care for it. I think it's a little too soon in the show to have characters act in a totally different way that they normally do because we don't know them this well so it feels a little flat for me.
What is the message of the episode? I'm not sure either. If a message there was, it was not delivered very well because I'm confused about it..
The only thing I really love was the end with Kate's father. It showed that some people are incapable to communicate or take responsibility even with the ones supposed to be the closest to them. He heard how she felt but he didn't listen at all. Or he is too coward to discuss the issue with her. I'm very sad for Kate who desperately needs a sign from him.
On another topic, I think this episode responds quite well with the previous BTVS one because they both deals with lack of communication even if they do it in very different ways. I'm curious to see how long it will be possible to compare both shows before ATS becomes totally independent from BTVS. But, since you're the one who made me notice the thematic connections between the two shows in the first place, I will try to keep an open eye about that.
See you next time for BTVS s04e07 which should be interesting because (until now at least) episodes 7 in BTVS always are important for the season or the show in general. Take care.

Yeah, I'm also of two minds about this episode - the ending makes it stronger for me, though. Seeing that Kate's dad is still so closed off and that his lack of sensitivity affects her makes me think that the episode is leaning more towards showing how unhealthy it is to bottle things up, especially since the tone goes from comedic to serious again.
