Ok. Trauma (may or may not refer fully to the show- cause no spoilers). First, agree with you. Our traumas make up who we are as humans- as individuals and collectively. I think it's the existence of our traumas that cause us to strive to make a better world, too. (Obviously not always - but enough.) We learn something through the pain we experience and it enhances our empathy. We connect beyond ourselves with others and form community. (Want to say I don't think it's universal, but it does create pathways and spaces). I don't think we could ever make a world fully absent of trauma, but we can strive to get as close as possible. And I think the important thing in doing so is understanding how important the collective is and our symbiotic existence within it. One of the creepy things about Lumon is their focus is on the individual over the collective while still maintaining it's cult-like structure over individuals. The fake cult-like collective they are seeking isn't the same sense of community that Mark, Irv, Dylan, and Helly formed together. Lumon's collective is the opposite of humanity. But the people traumatized within the system form their own community/collective identity through their shared experience of this trauma. So, in a hypothetical situation where Lumon were to be experimenting with the mind to find a way to erase trauma... I feel like their meddling is trauma in and of itself. We've seen it since episode one of the first season. And that first season was triggering. (At least to me.) --- So where do I fall on this whole thought process? No, I don't think that some artificial creation to wipe out traumas from our own psyches would be a good thing. I think no matter how it is approached, the apparatus that would unnaturally do that would be the thing that causes trauma on a grander scale - not just to individuals but to the collective aspect of humanity.
