MULTI-NATIONAL NAMES NEEDED!
Added 2025-03-24 07:39:10 +0000 UTCHello friends, I need some assistance. As I'm writing the Pirate novel, I'm filling out the members of our intrepid crew and introducing some new characters and I want them to be from all sorts of places. However in looking for names I don't trust the usual name/heritage sites as far as I can jump, so I need your help.
If you are from a non English speaking background/heritage I would LOVE name suggestions for the crew. My only caveat is that they are traditionally male names and that they're not super modern. They need to sound like they could exist in the 1700's.
I would love to hear names from all over the world, but I'm also specifically looking to name characters that are Polynesian and Maori.
Thank you eternally.

2025-03-25 20:09:35 +0000 UTCJust learned about some of danish ancestry so it’s on my mind. Down my family tree a little bit I had family members with the last name Mindedal, which means memory valley, which sounds dope! My mom is the one who looked into this and told me about it, so if any danish people are here and say that that’s not true, blame my mom and not me. She also told me there’s some serious family drama and when she went to someone, who’s from the other side of the drama, to ask what this old drama was about they refused to speak with her.

2025-03-25 02:59:50 +0000 UTCSo I'm looking at some genealogical records from NZ and the South Pacific. I'm purposefully going with shorter names that are most likely easier to pronounce. Here's what I've come up with: NZ from 1700 - 1800 Konohi Ponui Pari Te Karaka Patara Ruru Samoa from 1700 - 1800 Faumui To'a Fili Aiono Mose Vole Hopefully these help. If you want names from other areas for the time period, let me know and I'll keep searching.

2025-03-24 16:00:44 +0000 UTCHaha im a dirty American. I actually stole these names from a video game that has 13th century romani people in it. But don't let that scare you, KcD2 puts a premium on historical accuracy

2025-03-24 13:27:31 +0000 UTCSome Aotearoa Maori names are: Wiremu is close to William, Mikaere is close to Michael, Nikora is close to Nicholas, Te Ariki, Kai, Manaia. There's also Ikaika. That's not Maori, it's more Hawaiian but I love that name so I had to throw it in there. Got plenty more if you need
