The planet also seems quite similar to Tatooine, the desert planet in SW -Here is the summary for Space Captain Harlock, which this episode used for some plot points: In the future, humanity has achieved a vast starfaring civilization, but is slowly and steadily succumbing to despair, often due to defeat and subjugation by a foreign invader. Rising against the general apathy, Harlock denies defeat and leads an crew aboard his starship Arcadia to undertake daring raids against Earth's oppressors. Their primary oppressors are the Mazone, a race of organic plant-based alien women who explored Earth in the mythic past and are now back to reclaim it. -The environmental message and drive to not give up, as well as the clothing worn may be a reference to the manga (though more well known as a Ghibli movie) “Nausicaa and the valley of the Wind.” Episode 97, Part A: -This entire part is a parody on the classic manga, “Lupin the 3rd.” The choreography, and character designs fit it to a T. -The unique opening is parody of a combo Lupin the 3rds’s 3rd OP and it’s ED. -Kurikan's (the cat thief’s name) was also the nickname of the VA for Lupin -The name of the Thief group “Cat’s Punch” is an homage to the pen name of the mangaka/creator of Lupin the 3rd, “Monkey Punch.” Episode 97, part B: N/A If you haven’t recorded them already, I suggest doing episodes 98, 99, and 100 all together as 101 starts a moderately long (for Gintama standards) serious arc.
