2021-02-22 21:19:19 +0000 UTCrewatching the absolute madness of ep 135 makes me appreciate how well done all the female characters in gintama are because long-running shounen (especially all these years ago) let's be honest barely anyone put any effort into developing their female characters if it wasn't some kind of romance with the main character thank god shounen these days are doing a better job

This episode references his promotion, where he left Gintama to become the editor for One Piece. He was eventually promoted again, to Deputy Editor-in-Chief. -Daitou-San is a reference to Gintama’s 2nd editor Satou Yuu (who was with the series for chapters 188-255). His previous work was the sports manga “Eyeshield 21.” After Gintama, he would go onto become the editor for the sports manga “Kuroko no Basket,” then the romcom “Nisekoi.” He was also the editor for HxH at one point, but I could not find when/at what time. Now he is head of the Character Department at Shonen Jump and operates a blog on the Shonenjump website. -The unnamed Editor-in-Chief that’s the boss is a reference to Ibaragi Masahiko, who was in the position at Shonen Jump at the time. He’s since retired. I suggest you lookup all 3s real life counterparts. Gintama did a really good job at conveying their appearances Episode 136: -In realtor-speak, “1LDK” means “1 living area, 1 Dining area, 1 Kitchen.”
