Gintama - Yoshiwara in Flames (Part 2)

This arc is one of my faves, I've rewatched I don't know how many times and I still find new things they foreshadow, I just saw a line a character said that becomes the basis for one of my favorite quotes way later in the series and it just hit me how great it was set up here.

I don't know what my favorite arc is but like you I had fangasm moments while watching this again and If I had been wearing an apple watch I'd probably be getting the same warnings you did.

Hosen's struggle, his "thirst", symbolizes the most primal nature of men. He wanted everything, and most especially what he couldn't have. Hinowa's goal was to remind him that he could be happy if he abandoned his desire, and just sought the simple things together with her. He realized at the end that he could have been happy just being a simple man, with her. He could have had the one thing he always wanted if he just humbled himself.

highkey ship Gin and Tsuki, i know it's not about that and i rarely ship anything in Gintama but that dynamic with them, uuuff. but anyway, great reaction! i lost my shit when i saw this arc for the first time. so many beautiful emotions conveyed. love that this proves that family can be more than blood relation and thoseee fights! jfc good fucking stuff 👏

Oh and just so there’s no confusion, Umibozu, Hosen, and Kamui are definitely the strongest characters in the series up to this point. And Yato mode Kagura, but I don’t count her since it’s not base/normal/she can’t just go into it voluntarily. There’s debate about whether or not Kamui could’ve beaten Hosen at this point (my money’s on no).
