Gintama - Ep. 304 & 305 Reaction

all the emotional buildup to this gin vs takasugi fight, i still tear up when watching this even tho it's alr like the 4th time 😭

No body has any idea of how meaningfull and helpfull Shouyou's words are to me. I was in a hard path, doubt about anything I would do. Why do I doubt myself so much?... Then Shouyuyou said these words. "You ended up here after loosing yout way, didn't you? I am the same. I am still lost. But THAT'S ALLRIGHT. Doubt yourself, loose your way. And become the samurai YOU WANT TO BE" These words still get me deep.

A lot of people (myself included) consider 305 one of, if not the best episodes of anime (not just gintama) of all time. So many reveals, a great fight, a cliffhanger, turns a badass but otherwise antagonist we know little about into a top 5 character. The editing between the fight and flashbacks are perfect, there's a roller coaster of emotions. I could go on

One of the moments I was waiting for, episode 305. Takasugi punching Gin is the most heartbreaking scene for me, you learn just how personal this fight is and you can see it when he is pummeling Gin just how enraged at everything that led them there he is. Now you know why certain things were said throughout the show, how in Benizakura Zura said that of all of them, Gin should hate this world the most, and yet he managed to move on and try to recreate his life, Gin making comments to Tsukyo's master about what it means to actually be a good Sensei and how sad and longing he looked when he said he never had the chance to protect his Sensei's back. Takasugi and Zura both couldn't handle that the world moved on the way it did and decided to destroy it in their own ways. And Shoyo had Gin promise when he was young to protect his friends, so he couldn't hold onto Takasugi's promise to save Sensei, just this storyline is insane. This is why we love this show.

In the spider arc, the reason Gintoki felt for Tsukuyo so much and was so angry at her master was because of his history with Shoyo. He could not understand how a master could hurt his own student.

in the benizakura, zura mention to takasugi that gintoki is the one who should hate the world most but he beared its, well thats foreshadowing to this arc

The picture you saw with the Shouyo's head are from Courtesan of a Nation though, it's not new XD. Anyway, nice one. Definitely a great payoff that makes so much sense and recontextualizes basically the whole series.

I just love Shoyo's quote about it being okay to be lost in life, trying to find your way. Because thats what I feel like life is, just a constant cycle of trying to figure out your path in it.
