Gintama - Ep. 314 315 & 316 Reaction

Back to back amazing arcs. The following arc is 12 episodes and another banger. They touch more on Utsuro there.

Goddd this whole arc was a lot especially after as but 215 always gets me so hard

jin's scream in dionysus

I didn't watch gintama thru the first time alone and was with a buddy at the time. We were both dumb struck during the face reveal.

I was DYING at how shookedth you were when you saw shoyo πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, the bonds that has formed between odd jobs and shinsegumi πŸ₯Ί, and I still tear up over sasaki's story

You definitely have to rewatch the series at some point (obviously don't have to do reactions to it). The information you gain over these past couple (and next few) arcs adds so much nuance and depth to the series that it's unbelievable.

Sorachi is cutting a lot of onions rn, lol! Episodes 305 and 314 were the two I waited for for so long, I needed to see your reactions to Gin killing Shoyo, and the revelation of Shoyo/Utsuro here, because bruh, the plot twist, I paused and sat in shock before the emotions hit me and I just felt so sad for Gin, all he wanted was to get away from his past, and back to back we had Oboro show up, Takasugi fight to the near death with Gin, and then for the man he killed to save his friends to just f*cking show up and try to kill Gin, too much! The moment where Gin sees Shoyo's face and just stands there in despair as his memories flash on his face and Utsuro swings the sword at his head is the saddest scene I have seen. My heart was in a pretzel twist for a while, Sorachi the mad genius and sadist tearing my soul apart. I had a friend that tried to convince me that this was the last we see the Shinsengumi and I was like "nah fam, you don't just get rid of all these great characters like that, they coming back bigger and better." Next arc is just as dope, keep it up!!

Infodump: If you can believe it, the IRL events this arc is based on were even more depressing -The FS arc is loosely based on the Battle of Hakodate, the last major battle of the Boshin war, in between the remnants of the Tokugawa shogun's army (led by the Shinsengumi) and the army of the newly formed imperial government, on the small northern Japanese island of Ezo. It was a decisive imperial victory, and most of the Shinsengumi, including Hijikata, were killed in battle. -It also takes some inspiration from the framing of Kondo Isami (the IRL Kondo), in which Sasaki Tadasaburo and Imai Noburō (the IRL versions of Sasaki and Nobume), framed Kondo for the murder of Sakamoto Ryoma (the IRL Sakamoto). Kondo was summarily executed.

The arc not only shows the bonds between the Shinsengumi (which we have seen many times throughout) but also the bond between them and the Yorozuya which grew over the course of the series. And add in the Isaburo and Nobume storyline, the Utsuro reveal and some Katsura goodness in a serious arc, you have a 11/10 arc! My favourite arc of Gintama excluding the last one

Sand1234

The arc was lit but more jaw dropping moments have yet to come.

utsuro’s ost im lovin it

The Shoyo reveil is so good, the one who made the soundtrack for that deserves some type of award. No one expects Shoyo to be alive at this point because we literally saw his head separated from his body. But to then turn the "Loving Shoyo sensei" into the main villain of the series is g.e.n.i.u.s. I swear Sorachi wants us dead.

When the main-character's head is about to be chopped off, but then the most useful shounen heroine in history is like: "not on my watch'', and grabs the sword wielded by the most powerful villain in the entire anime with her bare hands. Kagura GOAT. Second arc in a row where she saves Gintoki's ass.
