It’s too bad they put the Slip arc where it is. Completely ruins the flow of the series and the cliffhanger at the end of episode 328. And going back and seeing a normal Edo with the Shinsengumi and other characters that had huge moments is super awkward. Maybe you’ll think differently, but IMO Slip arc is probably the worst gintama season, even after disregarding where it’s placed.

2022-01-21 23:02:48 +0000 UTCIt's really impressive how Sorachi is able to increase the scope and scale of the Gintama world through the story and its characters, rather relying on having characters gain new powers and power escalation. The later introduced antagonists like Isaburo, Nobume, and Oboro flesh out the entire story so much, while having each a compelling story of their own. Watching Gintama again for the second time, I've gained an even higher level of respect for Sorachi's writing. It's really amazing stuff.

2022-01-21 19:57:17 +0000 UTCI watched the series near blind so I had no clue about the slip arc, but it never took away anything from these banger arcs at all. I do think it hurt the slip arc though, only because the comedy eps aren't as highly regarded as previous episodes which is a shame, but it doesn't change the core theme of Gintama being life: light and dark. You can't have one without the other. I definitely do wish the anime staff were given more time to make sure everything is tight however.
