Rental House

When I woke up in the morning and looked out the window, it was overcast.

"It looks like it's going to rain."

As Rilfana said, it seems like it will rain.

"I think I'll just go to Reda-san's place today."

"Speaking of which, Steve told me that there's a shop that sells board games like the ones at the inn where we stayed the other night."

"If it doesn't rain, I'd like to stop by on the way home."

When I went to the guild, Reda-san was sitting at the reception desk.

As I left the inn late, most of the adventurers had already left, and it looked like they were having a slow day.

"I was wondering if I could rent a room under the same conditions as last time."

He jumped down from the chair, which was a little high for Reda-san's height, and started walking towards the guild master's room.

It seems they'll lend me a spare key tomorrow. I was only told to leave the key at the reception desk of the guild when I'm going away for more than two nights. I guess that's so they know we're not there even if we don't come back home.

I outsmarted Rilfana and Clare and I finished first.

After that, when we played with different characters, Rilfana ended up in first place by a long way.

I bought a game where you run a farm and earn points. It's the type that takes a fair amount of time to play a single game.

...Yeah, I've played the original with my brothers before, so I won hands down. The problem with this kind of game is that you have to play it many times before you understand the strategy.

The next morning, after having breakfast at the inn, we cleared out our room and went to the guild.

Reda-san was waiting for us at a table that we could use freely, rather than at the reception desk.

"Good morning. Shall we get going?"

We headed for Reda-san's house along the same road as before.

"By the way, can you send a letter to Feld Village?"

My dad said I should send a letter if he can't come home, but I wondered how I would send it, so I asked Reda-san.

"Mark comes here once or twice a month, so you could wait for him to come and pick it up, or if it's urgent, you could ask an adventurer to deliver it for about 2 small silver coins. Feld Village isn't on the way to other towns, so it might be difficult to find an adventurer who will accept the request right away."

It appears that my father, who sometimes went back and forth between the town and the village, was delivering letters.

Does that mean that if I forget to go back at the end of the month, my father will come to the town to check on me? 

We arrived at Reda-san's house while chatting.

"Meanwhile, I'll show you the room I'm using, so you can choose the room that Mina-chan and the others will mainly use and tell me which one it is."

Reda-san uses the room at the front of the house, which is up the stairs on the left of the hall. She also told me that the room to the left of that is being used as a storage room. The only rooms left are the two rooms on the right and one room at the front of each end of the house.

There are also four rooms and three storage rooms in the basement for the servants to use, but there are no windows, so it would be better to use the rooms on the second floor.

"And please keep the rooms on the first floor empty as guest rooms. When Mark comes, he can stay there."

I've decided that my room will be on the far right, next to Rilfana's, and Clare will take the other side.

I also told him that I might be able to use the front of Reda-san's warehouse as a storage room. In reality, I plan to use it as a workshop using my production skills.

It's a big place, so three of us could probably share one bedroom, but Reda-san said we should decide on it first, so we decided to use it.

After that, I went to check the basement and found that the collapsed area had been neatly sealed up. It appears that this is the food storage area, so I'll buy some food later.

Reda-san gave me a spare key and went back to work. He also said he would let my father know that I had rented a room at his house. I think Reda-san is a considerate person.

"Let's at least hang out the futons."

"Okay."

All the rooms upstairs were furnished with a wardrobe, bed, desk, table, chest of drawers and all the other furniture you need to live.

After airing out the futons, they went shopping for food, necessary tableware, and small items like toothbrushes. Rilfana was buying flower seeds, so I guess she's going to sprinkle them in the flowerbed.

Time passes by in the blink of an eye while I'm tidying up the room.

For dinner, I decided to cook something simple while learning how to use the kitchen. I didn't eat much when I ate out, so I made it mainly with vegetables.

"As I thought, your home cooking is delicious."

"Yes, I want to be able to cook a little too."

We can both make simple dishes. It doesn't feel bad to be praised.

It was the first day, so I prepared a little extra food in case Reda-san came home, but it seemed like she wasn't coming back.

Clare wanted to play a bit more while she still remembered the rules, so we played a board game and then went to bed in our own rooms.

That night.

I went to bed thinking that sleeping alone in a room was just like living alone in Japan.

Hmm, I was thinking that I was feeling a little restless when the door was knocked on and Clare came in with a pillow.

"Big sister, can I sleep with you?"

Clare had never slept alone before, so she probably couldn't get to sleep.

Since Rilfana came, I think we've slept together at least once every three days in the village, but somehow it felt like it had been a long time.

The next morning, Rilfana came to wake me up, but for some reason she seemed angry.

In the end, from now on, we will be sleeping in the same room with the bed brought into my room.
