Hi, nice reaction! If you type in "Hijikata Toshizo" and google, you'll find the photo of actual Hijikata in the same pose and clothing you saw in ep. 21, which is known as an iconic photo of him in Japan. Also, this old Abashiri prison building has become a popular sightseeing place as a museum. There are dolls of the prisoners and prison guards displayed to show what was like to live in the prison. The cafeteria is open for visitors and they can order the real prison menu served to the prisoners.
