Magic Warrior Chapter 87

Blacksmithing - Weapons Prototypes

When I said I would continue blacksmithing in the afternoon, Clare went off to the library to do some research.

The library was just a stone's throw from Reda-san's house.

Rilfana and I decided to imitate Rilfana's dagger as a practice.

"I wonder if I can tap these to stretch them out."

"I've never done it before, but I think I can do it by feel, somehow."

The effect of Calfabro-sama's furnace and the skill seems to make the body move naturally.

When hammering with a hammer, it seemed to be generally done by two people, and when Rilfana was present, she would try to move so that two people could make it.

If there was no help, it would seem that it could be made by one person, so it would automatically compensate for this.

Repeat the process of heating the metal to soften it and then taking turns with Rilfana to beat it into shape.

When it was roughly beaten up, another piece of steel made slightly softer was wrapped around it and struck.

A plate of steel that did not break when force was applied meant that it was soft and bendable. Conversely, a steel plate that did not bend meant that it would not bend and would break. However, by using two different types of steel with different hardness, it would appear that a sword blade that neither breaks nor bends easily could be made.

The blade would then be firmly formed into the shape of the sword and the cutting edge would be prepared.

The blade was coated with a kind of sand that came out when the steel was made, and then heated and placed in water. Steam rises with a sizzling sound.

This process would be called quenching.

The sudden temperature difference caused the blade to warp and take on the same shape as the model sword.

This process would normally take several days at the earliest, but it seemed to have been completed in less than two hours. Moreover, once I had the shape in mind, I was able to create it in almost the same way.

Instead, a feeling of mental exhaustion overpowered me. I was feeling exhausted and dazed.

"This is going to consume a lot of magic power..."

Apparently, the feeling of fatigue was caused by the consumption of magic power.

I didn't notice it myself because I consumed magic power until I felt tired for the first time.

I decide to do this while drinking a potion of magic power recovery made by Rilfana.

At Rilfana's skill level, it was not difficult to make rudimentary potions, so they were produced in large quantities. But currently, she never used them, so the stock number was great.

"It's a bit late now, but... what should I do with the tsuba and the hilt?"

Japanese swords were made with the tsuba and the hilt made separately. Of course, only the sword blade part was completed in our current process.

The first time I saw a Japanese sword, I thought it would be a good idea to make a sword.

"...Speaking of which, we might be able to use the sword stuff that has a chipped blade."

Rilfana took out one of the daggers from her Magic Bag. It was the one with the blade chipped during the spider riot.

She dexterously disassembles it with a tool she didn't know how to use, which she left around when she set up the furnace. This area also fell under the category of blacksmithing, so it seemed to be done automatically with skill compensation.

"It's done!"

Even though it was a dagger, it was too small to wield in the room, so he lightly grips it and checks it with small movements.

"I'll have to check it outside, but for now, it looks like I can use it."

"I'll take apart the one that ruined my sword too."

The iron sword that Gina-san gave me was also made from a forge, struck one at a time, so the brim and hilt were separate parts.

In my image, Western swords were more often made by melting iron and pouring it into a mold, but I wonder if that was the case?

Next, I decided to make my own steel sword. Would it be more correct to call it a steel sword here?

The same as with the sword, but the Western sword was easier to make with fewer steps. The magic consumption was also less than the previous one.

If you just want to try it out, you should probably have made this one first, which was easier.

The steel sword was made in almost the same shape as before it was damaged because it could be made in the same way if the finished form was imagined.

"Can you make mithril as well?"

"I think I can make it, but I don't have the brim and hilt anymore, and Mina-sama has another pair, don't you?"

"Yes, let's turn them into swords."

"I understand!"

The Mithril ore I bought is turned into a bar ingot form with the help of the instructions.

I decided to work on it while drinking a magic potion.

"Oh, by the way, I thought potions had a recast time, what happened to that?"

In SeveChro, when you used a potion or skill, you had to wait a little time before you could use it again, called recast time or delay time.

These were common systems in the game.

As for the potions, I think this was a measure to make it impossible to forcefully clear strong enemies by using a large amount of prepared potions in a row.

If it were a game convenience, this system could be gone.

"Hmm, I don't know. I don't think you can drink a lot of it because you feel a bit full, I think..."

The portions were in larger bottles, so they were surprisingly large and took longer to drink. However, given the amount they were drinking, they seemed to make it harder to feel full.

After one bottle, I would feel like I drank about half a glass of water.

"So that's the penalty you're referring to?"

"Not if there are no side effects, I guess not, although it is possible that the amount of recovery is reduced after the second bottle, but it's difficult to verify."

"You might drink a lot of it in an emergency. It would be nice to be able to verify this."

One of Mithril's swords was finished as we talked about this.

"It's beautiful."

At first glance, Mithril was a long, silver-colored sword. But when it was moved a little, it shone in different colors depending on how the light hit it.

"This one is too flashy to use..."

Mithril's weapon was said to be custom-made to order, so it was not like it wasn't there, but I think it would stand out if a D Rank adventurer had it.

"Yes, I guess I shouldn't draw it outside of town."

Moreover, I didn't think this sword would stand up to the magic sword I was expecting the most for very long. It was a lot better than an iron sword, but was it a problem with the way it was made?

"It's like your body is making it automatically, so maybe it's your skill level."

"I see. But to raise the skill level, you need to mass produce them, and I guess it's difficult because you need parts other than the sword's body."

"It would take time to make a lot of them. And even if you could make them, the quality would be too good to distribute in steel, let alone Mithril."

"Hmm. I'll have to think of something."

If we only need to make a few, we could give them to Alphos-san and the others.

But SeveChro was an online game, so if it was as balanced as it was, you'd have to make hundreds of them to get the skill level up if they were bad...

The number of times you needed to level up magic skills was the same as in SeveChro, and it was not surprising to see the same for production skills.

In terms of making a few, I thought about making some armor, but I found that difficult.

I got the impression that leather working skills would also be needed, which I think means it was impossible because I couldn't process the materials used for the inside.

"Oh, I guess it's also possible that I'm not at the right level."

"Mithril was the equipment for the highest level job, wasn't it?"

Perhaps if you get up to the 80th level, which would make you the highest level job, you might be able to use the sword without breaking it.

Clare occasionally used appraisal paper to check her stats, but I haven't checked mine because it was too much trouble.

I've defeated a Spider Queen and Ultra Canon, so I think it was about time to check my level.

If I could get a quick status screen, I'd know right away, but it was too much trouble because I could only guess when a question came to mind.

With Rilfana, I have more knowledge than when I was on my own, and it was good that it was easier to ask for advice and check.

...I wonder what the reincarnated players used to do?

In the era when people were called heroes, there seemed to be a lot of reincarnated players and a lot of interaction, so I wonder if they experienced no problem doing things by hand like we did.

"I'm home!"

Clare had returned.

I heard the bell ring at 1pm, but I have no idea what time it was because I was in the basement.

"Sister, are you guys still at it? It's almost time for the second bell of the afternoon."

"Oh, is it that time already!"

"I guess blacksmithing takes a long time to do."

When I showed Clare Mithril's weapon, she was surprised; she was also surprised when I told her that I had made it in one day.

"Shall we go shopping for ingredients for dinner?"

"Well, I thought you might be thinking of that, so I bought some."

Clare amazing.

The ingredients Clare bought were all ready for tomorrow morning.

I've got time today, so I'm going to make a stew or something a bit more elaborate, and I've got some kitchen utensils from Mineina.

"I'm trying to find out about the Virtuari civilization."

Over dinner Clare asked about what she was researching in the library.

I remember she seemed interested to hear that the instructions for a portable furnace were written in Virtuari civilization.

She didn't seem to get much out of it today. There seemed to be many books, so she said she would go and check them out again when she had more time.

After dinner, I put the furnace back in the cube just in case, although I didn't think there was any danger.

I deployed and installed it, but it seems that Rilfana could also close it.

I also decided to Magic Enchant the weapons I made, which was easier than blacksmithing because it's quicker.

And I could see the general trend of the grant, so I decided to use a medium that increases attack power and durability.

Not necessarily, but apparently the color of the medium has something to do with the trend of the granting of the corrective effect options.

When used against weapons, the red scrap gems were often given an offensive type.

The durability of the gems was still not well understood, but currently the conclusion was that the more transparent ones were more likely to be attached.

I should have bought pre-processed gems from Mineina. The shop sold accessories, so they must have been mined.

I made a lot of money from the Ultra Canon, but my income was not yet stable as an adventurer, so depending on the price, I would not be able to buy them.

For now, I've decided to put the blacksmithing to rest until I need a new weapon or have a better idea of how to strengthen my skills.

I would like to make Clare's equipment if I could think of something I could make, but it would be too heavy if I made the staff out of metal.

I'll start taking requests again tomorrow.

Currently, thanks to the Magic Bag's carrying capacity, Rilfana's detection ability and the weak target monsters of D Rank requests, it was easy to earn requests for defeating them.

I have a promise that I have to return home once in the next 10 days, so I'll mainly take defeat requests in the neighborhood until C Rank.
