Especially with reaction videos since there are a lot of moments in One Piece we'd like to see your first time reaction of! So, if you're saying you are already thinking of going that way, I'd encourage you to do.

2021-05-16 18:38:44 +0000 UTCIt's just like oo-sop. The u in Japanese is always like oo, just as you say Luffy like that in the reaction. His motivation for lying to the town about pirates coming is actually explained in this arc, in the show and I assume the manga. For some Usopp trivia: His name is based on Aesop, but "Uso" means to lie in Japanese so he's named after the famous Greek name behind a lot of fables + the word for lie. His backstory with lying to the town is similar to Aesop's fable "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" so you can see how all that ties together. The origin of Luffy's scar under the eye is manga-only, it's believed to be cut out of the anime because of the demographic watching it for some reason - but I think is a very odd decision because of all the things they leave in the anime and other anime for young teens in Japan. Oda's world in One Piece does not reflect the past in our reality really beyond the stereotypical pirate things, so they can have things similar to our world technologically and fashion-wise, etc. It doesn't restrict itself to like our 16th Century or anything like that.
