Patreon Update

Hi guys :)

A quick little Patreon update to celebrate the catamaran yet again having working steering πŸŽ‰ I meant to post this before heading home but the internet at the catamaran is horrible.

Have a fantastic week! πŸ™‚

So where in NC are you heading to? We have our boat docked on the Pamlico Sound. Would love to come visit or help with a project... we are very versed in fiberglass work. We rebuilt the nose of a Catalina 30 after it was smashed in a collision.

Don’t forget about Nav Lights! You will definitely need them as well as all CG safety equipment to be legal

Thanks for the update. Very exciting news! You are definitely on track to get the boat back in the water. Any name yet other than "massive DIY project?"

Philip Wickstrom

Thanks Madz. Making great progress. Keep the DIY rolling :)

Tim Figgins

Happy days! It’s starting to not only look like a boat shaped object, but also act like a boat shaped object. Congratulations on these milestones! The first of many to come.

Chris Besignano

That’s great news!

John Harp

Great news, Mads. Soon you'll be motoring up the ICW. That outta be fun, and I'm sure you are preparing well. You're getting closer to me, and I can say the weather is definitely better "up here" in the summer. It'll still get hot, but not consistently sweltering at least. Oh and I'll warn the natives that a pleasant Danish chap and his lovely wife are on the way.

Joseph Orr

Very well done great to see your are progressing

Tony Young

Mads. Great update. Please post more Patreon only updates. Please please please.

Bill Karoly

Verdensklasse!!!

Allan

Awesome! Congrats Mads.

Given I have no experience in anti foul and for such a short trip why is it necessary to add anti foul at all. The boat in going to in the water for less than a couple of weeks while you take it up the ICW I wouldn't think it would cause too many issues over this short period of time.

Gordon Heydon

When you get to Oriental will the boat be in the water or on the hard? If it will be out of the water, I wouldn't put anything on the bottom. You'll get some slime while you go up the ICW, that will come off with a good pressure wash. Any small barnacles can just be scraped off.

Coming right along. Awesome!

My Predator frequently requires starter fluid to crank. Works fine otherwise.

Bruce Perry

Thank you :)

Thanks :)

There are still a lot of variables. Transport being one, insurance being another - both things that to some extent are outside of my control. I hope we can have the boat ready to move in early June :)

Sail Life

Thank you so much, John :)

Super congrats on the steering! Looks like your generator is dual fuel? We have one back in Colorado and we run it on propane - no gummed up carburetor! You are making awesome progress!!

Heidi and Franny Sailing

Love these short updates. Thanks !!!

Julie & John Applegate

What is your ETA to move the boat?

Steve Olsson

Awesome!

Land 2 Sea

Congrats on the steering!

Todd Sanders

Thanks, Dave :) BTW the pumpkin finally threw in the towel.

Sail Life

Thanks :D There's still a lot of grunt work left but we're getting closer :)

Yes, but Lemar is too expensive. For the price of one gearbox and AP unit from Lewmar I can get a complete steering system from Jefa. I have a really hard time with Lewmar. Between them not making spare parts for our self-tailing winches and how overpriced their products are I'd be surprised if I end up using a single Lewmar product on the catamaran.

Sail Life

Good job!!! Almost to the water!!

M. Scott Owitz

Surely if you overhaul all the steering components you could develop a sense of trust for the old steering

Graeme Henderson

Congratulations!!
