Things Are Moving Along!

Hi Guys 👍
Ava here.

In this week’s video, we make great progress clearing out the bottom of the boat, get our shiny new Mantus anchor aboard, and Mads installs our new Maretron display.

Apologies for the delayed Patreon update—on Thursday we made a last-minute decision to take the truck and a load of our belongings up to North Carolina. We hit the road early Friday morning and made it to Marine Craft just in time to watch the sunset :) Luckily, the truck made it in one piece and everything went smoothly!

There are still a few jobs left on the truck (installing new headers, replacing the front axle seal, and checking a possible transmission issue), but she chugged along just fine. Don’t worry—I followed behind in the CRV just in case 😉

This morning, we put everything into short-term storage until the tool trailer and catamaran arrive. Since Oriental hosts a 4th of July parade every year, Mads and I took a break to enjoy the celebration. It was Mads’ first-ever parade! I think he liked it—especially when he realized they throw candy at you along the route 😂

It’ll be a quick trip since we’re heading back to Florida early Sunday morning. While we’ll definitely miss the friends we’ve made down there, being up here has reminded us how excited we are for the move. Maybe we can convince our Florida friends to follow us 😜

Spiffy Splash Update:
There’s a chance we’ll be back in the water this week. The crane company will now also be handling the boat move, and we’re currently working out the logistics. We wish we had a firm date to share, but we’re doing everything we can to make it happen and are crossing our fingers for some time in the next week or so.

Hope everyone is having a great summer—getting some relaxation and some boat work in! As always, we’ll keep you posted.

It appears to me that the anchor hangin down that far presents a lot of surface area in which a wave could hit the anchor and knock it sideways and do some damage to the tramp ramp. Also what is it about a "surface area" temperature being different than a "non-surface area" temp that you don't want them mixed on a readout?

As a couple of others commented, the padeyes in the video are for a bowsprit not for the bridle. You might be tempted to attach the bridge to the crossbeam, but there have been crossbeam failures due to loads on the middle of crossbeams so many cats attach the bridle to cleats on each bow, or attachment points connected directly to the ends of the crossbeam (not putting a load on the crossbeam itself). If you can get a copy of the Antares owners manual, there should be a diagram of how the bridle is attached on your specific boat.
