Hey everyone! Let me present to you the Stambry, Northern Sovar, the first map for the Monasteries & Temples theme.

The northern lands of Sovar are known as Stambry, named after the Stamber river and people that originally lived along it. It has a long history of interaction with the Faerie and is a strange place to outsiders.

Of old, the Stamber people lived along the river of the same name. They were fishers and forest dwelling people, with close communities and highly valued hospitability. After the fall of Parretoa and the Arcane Plagues, the deep forests became different. Far away from human settlements, in the most remote region, the veil between worlds were unveiled, and the world of Faerie started to bleed into the land.

Most people of Wordal feared or despised these strange folk, but the people of Stambry were welcoming, and showed sincere interest. For many years the region was marked by friendly interactions between mortal and fae. However, when the Burbric Empire conquered the lands, these interaction were forbidden.

The Faith of the Great Balance, brought to the lands by the Empire, rejected the faeries and their magic. Their sacred places were destroyed, or converted into shrines and temples to the new Gods. As a result, the faerie influence can be seen in these lands, still today. Old temples have been built around Faerie Circles and stone monuments were used as the framework for great churches. It is believed that the Mage Tower of Harvess is built on once such monument, which may explain its potent magic users.

The people of Stambry are considered a strange folk by many. Due to their history with the fae, they are superstitious beyond what's normal. They have strange customs, greetings and festivals. One of these festivals has villages join together in song and dancing out of the village and into the nearest forest, where they light candles and recount stories to the new moon. Other festivals include rituals that outsider would consider demonic and evil, but to the people of Stambry they are perfectly normal.

The landscape is made up of dark, forbidding forests. A number of roads wind through the hills and open grassy fields between these forests.
