Hey everyone! Let me present to you the Village of Lamvan, the final map for the Merchants theme.

It has been over a decade since the Callaeran explorers made contact with people from across the sea. On a distant land they found the long believed to be extinct High-Elves and kingdoms of other humans. Sea routes were explored quickly and the city-states of the Sunset Coast were locked in a race to establish trade rights and routes. 

Many expeditions set out under explorers such as Arimir and Fredegar who both claim to have sailed the furthest west of any of the Wordal people. 

Four years ago, in 1249 AP, the wealthy merchant Bessas Radegond set out on one such expedition from Assaen, but never returned. Many believed his ship was taken by a leviathan of the oceans. In truth his ship got lost in a terrible storm which killed many of the crew, and blown off course. Before they realized how far they had been taken south, they had already sailed too far west. 

When they reached land it was not the continent they were looking for, but a new place. The sparse crew of Bessas landed in a village called Lamvan by the locals.  

Lamvan is a fishing village on the north-eastern coast of a state called Hoang, a vast realm of tall mountains and lush jungles and, as Bessas would later learn, a tributary to the even greater Zhau Empire to the south. Lamvan sits at a cove between steep cliffs and overlooks a large bay. The village is governed by a Quanlai, an appointed civil official.

When Bessas and his crew arrived they were taken to the Official's office. The remained in the village for a while before being taken to the Provincial Capital where they stayed as "guests" for a year, and finally traveling to the Imperial Capital and the court of the Emperor. After remaining for 2 years, the ruler of that realm, the Wangdai, a title closer to that of Gods than mortal men, freed them and allowed them to sail home.

In 1253 AP Bessas returned to Callaern with stories, records and gifts. He told was invited by the High Magistrate asked for a report of his findings. Bessas answered: "A decade ago we discovered a new land across the see, but now it would seem that the world is much, much large still. Let me tell you of the Empires of Hoang and Zhau."
