Uchiha Izuna and Tobirama were already baring their teeth and rolling up their sleeves, their faces almost pressed against each other, when a sudden voice interrupted them, startling everyone present.
"Who’s there?"
Senju Hashirama frowned deeply, immediately on high alert. His muscles tensed, and deep blue chakra spread across his body.
"Wait, that voice?"
In contrast, Uchiha Madara’s expression turned peculiar upon hearing the voice. His sharp black eyes shifted toward the source.
When he saw a familiar face with naturally curly hair, sitting casually next to Hashirama’s new wife, chatting and laughing as if nothing were out of the ordinary, the usually cold and stern "Asura of the Shinobi World" unexpectedly let out a faint smile.
"Cousin, what are you doing here?"
Hearing the familiar voice, Uchiha Izuna immediately abandoned his confrontation with Tobirama and ran over enthusiastically. His eyes lit up with joy as he looked over the long-unseen Uchiha Gin.
"I just finished a mission. When I saw the commotion here, I thought I’d drop by to take a look."
Uchiha Gin, who was engaged in a lively conversation with Senju Honoka, didn’t even turn his head as he answered his younger cousin.
"Oh my, Mrs. Honoka, how do you maintain your skin so well? It’s so smooth and radiant!"
"Oh, it’s just natural. I only use—"
"Ah! I use that too!"
"Really? Let me tell you, you need to pair it with—"
The casual exchange of skincare tips between Uchiha Gin and Senju Honoka immediately diffused the tense atmosphere that had filled the room just moments ago.
"Madara, who is he?"
Senju Hashirama looked at the curly-haired man with a sense of familiarity but couldn’t place him. He turned to Madara and asked in a curious tone.
"He’s my older brother. You’ve probably seen him a couple of times," Madara replied after a moment of thought, though his brow furrowed slightly. Was Hashirama deliberately avoiding the topic?
"From the Naka River incident?"
This response jogged Hashirama’s memory, and he asked in confirmation.
"Yes."
"Wait, wasn’t he killed by my father?"
Hashirama exclaimed in shock. He had always thought that the man who followed Uchiha Tajima back then had been killed by his own father. He’d even felt guilty about it for years, as no one had ever survived Senju Butsuma’s punches.
"He didn’t die. I saw him a few years ago," Tobirama interjected coldly, arms crossed, his crimson eyes scrutinizing Uchiha Gin. More specifically, they seemed to linger on Gin’s dense curly hair.
"Was it during the pursuit of the Hagoromo remnants?"
At the mention of the Hagoromo clan, Hashirama’s recently relaxed expression tightened again.
The mystery surrounding Senju Koji’s death during that mission had never been resolved. Despite Tobirama’s cunning and thorough investigation, no clear answers had emerged.
"Cousin, why are you here?"
Unlike the Senju brothers, who were lost in their own thoughts, a slightly tipsy Madara curiously questioned Gin. His cousin was usually low-profile and reserved; showing up at an event like this was unusual.
"Oh, isn’t this a joyous occasion for Miss Momoka's wedding? As her best friend, I came to celebrate!"
Clapping his hands, Uchiha Gin put on a familiar and friendly expression as he rummaged through his pockets.
"You’re friends with her?"
Madara was baffled. He had no idea that Gin had any acquaintances among the Senju clan.
"What’s going on? How do you know this Uchiha?"
On the Senju side, Tobirama couldn’t hold back any longer after hearing Gin’s words. He had thoroughly investigated everything about Senju Momoka, even her underwear preferences, yet there had been no mention of any ties to the Uchiha.
"Huh?"
Of course, the most confused of all was Senju Momoka herself. She swore this was her first time meeting Uchiha Gin. She had only exchanged a few polite words with him, so how could he claim to be her good friend?
"No, this is our first meeting," Momoka quickly clarified, waving her hands in denial.
"But Miss Momoka and I hit it off right away. It feels like we’ve known each other for years!"
"Tch."
Everyone instantly lost interest. So, he was just overly friendly.
"Since I just got back from a mission and didn’t prepare anything special, here’s some gold as my wedding gift," Gin said, pulling a pouch of gold from his pocket.
As Uchiha Gin spoke, he reached into his small backpack and pulled out a large gold ingot, placing it into Senju Momoka's delicate hands.
"Ah? This is too valuable, I can’t possibly accept it!"
The hefty gold ingot caught Momoka off guard, almost slipping from her grasp despite her strength as a seasoned shinobi. Holding the gleaming brick of gold, she was at a loss for words. After all, she’d never seen such wealth in her life. Flustered, she hurriedly tried to refuse, only for Gin to casually pull out another identical ingot and place it in her hands.
"Don’t be shy. This is the least valuable gift I have."
Uchiha Gin, showing no signs of stopping, continued pulling out gold ingots one after another. By the time more than ten ingots had piled up, completely burying Momoka, his extravagant display finally came to an end.
"It’s real gold."
Seeing this, Senju Tobirama immediately flashed over, grabbing one of the bricks and inspecting it carefully. Upon confirming it was pure gold, his heart skipped a beat. Just this pile of gold alone was enough to purchase an entire city.
"Hahaha, Madara, is your brother a merchant?"
Senju Hashirama, equally astonished, couldn’t close his gaping mouth. He quickly turned to Madara, eager to learn more about this extravagant brother of his.
"No, my brother is a jailer. As for the gold, I have no idea where he got it."
Madara, unfazed by Gin’s flamboyant generosity, shrugged. He had long grown used to his cousin’s antics with money. Madara himself had little interest in wealth, so every festive occasion when Gin gifted him gold ingots, he would simply pass them on to his younger brother, Izuna. By now, Izuna probably had enough gold bricks to build a house.
"Tsk, does your brother need another sibling?"
"Huh?"
"Er... I was thinking of signing Tobirama up."
Meanwhile, completely unaware that he was being "offered up," Tobirama tossed the gold ingot aside, eyeing Uchiha Gin with a peculiar expression. After scrutinizing him for a moment, Tobirama noticed something surprising. Despite it being six years since they’d last met, Gin’s appearance hadn’t aged a day.
"You... haven’t gotten any older?"
Being a curious man of science, Tobirama couldn’t resist asking questions, even if the other party was an enemy.
"Maybe it’s the power of money~"
Gin replied vaguely, brushing off Tobirama’s inquiry. Since Tobirama wasn’t aware of the Yin Seal technique, there was no need to explain it to this annoying white-haired man.
After all, if he did, Tobirama might go back and figure out how to replicate it, which would essentially mean aiding the enemy.
"Mr. Gin, you’re truly a generous man."
As the saying goes, money speaks volumes. Even enemies couldn’t help but offer compliments when showered with such wealth.
"Ah, Miss Momoka, you’re too kind. We’re all family here, no need for formalities!"
Gin waved off the praise, emphasizing their camaraderie.
"Uchiha Gin, I, Senju Hashirama, consider you a friend from now on."
Inspired by Gin’s goodwill and already envisioning a grand future, Hashirama extended his hand, eager to solidify their budding relationship.
Gin, understanding the significance of the gesture, didn’t decline. After all, this was the future First Hokage. The gold was merely an early investment. Taking Hashirama’s hand, he even joked, "You’re too polite. My little cousin Madara often benefits from your mercy, and as his elder brother, I’m deeply grateful."
"Huh? What nonsense are you spouting?"
Though slightly drunk, Madara clearly understood Gin’s words. Furious, he slammed his cup down and retorted angrily, "I know exactly what’s going on with you. Are you starting to lose your sight?"
Rolling his eyes, Gin righted Madara’s toppled cup and asked casually, "Oh? No issues, I hope?"
Madara, startled by the question, stiffened and denied it adamantly, "None whatsoever!"
"Alright, alright. I’ll check on you later—better safe than sorry."
Sensing that Madara’s Sharingan wasn’t in its best condition, Gin didn’t push further. After shaking hands with Hashirama, he took a seat at the table and raised his glass high.
"Congratulations to Miss Momoka and Brother Hashirama on their joyous union. Cheers! I’ll finish this first, feel free to drink at your own pace!"
After downing his drink, Gin’s smile grew even brighter. Attending the wedding of the future First Hokage? That was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
"Mr. Gin, let me toast you!"
Having safely secured the pile of gold bricks, Senju Momoka, beaming with joy, raised her cup toward Gin and offered a toast.
"Oh, you’re too kind. Here’s wishing you two many children!"
Privately, Gin thought to himself, Hurry up and have kids. Time is running short.
Though the timeline had shifted, he hoped the future Tsunade would still exist.
Without her, the world would lose much of its entertainment.
"Hehe, thank you for the blessing!"
"Mr. Gin... no, calling you 'Mr.' feels too distant. Since you’re Madara’s brother, I’ll call you Brother Gin instead!"
Recognizing the goodwill in Gin’s eyes, Hashirama happily raised his cup and cozied up to him.
Hmph, first win over Madara’s brother, then Madara will follow in no time.
