"Yuan Cang, leave this to us. Chen Xuan seems to be coming after us. You go out the other way and finish off the members of Dao Sect," Cheng Pu said, glancing back.
"Alright, but Elder Cheng Pu, don’t forget your promise to me."
"Don’t worry," Cheng Pu assured him.
Satisfied with the response, Yuan Cang took Ling Zhen and Lei Qian and left through the other exit.
At this moment, the entire area was shrouded in thick black fog. Faint crimson glimmers flashed within, resembling demonic eyes, which thrilled Cheng Pu and the others.
"You all… carry a familiar scent!" a chilling voice from within the fog spoke as the crimson light scanned them.
"Lord, we were sent to rescue you," Cheng Pu said, bowing.
"Good, but before I leave, I must tear Burning Sky to pieces!" the voice replied with deep resentment.
From a distant mountain peak, a figure in red robes sitting amidst molten lava opened his eyes, speaking in a hoarse voice, "I fear you won’t be able to."
"Die!" Suddenly, countless black beams shot from the fog, streaking toward the red-robed man and disintegrating anyone from other sects who was in their path.
“Not good! Run!”
“Damn it, Yuan Gate unleashed something terrifying!”
“Retreat, quickly!”
The black beams pierced through many, reducing them to ashes. The red-robed figure, unmoved, appeared in the sky, grabbing one of the black beams in his hand and crushing it.
"Burning Sky (Fen Tian)! So you failed your Samsara tribulation and have become this pitiful," the voice in the fog mocked, its crimson light fixed on Fen Tian (Burning Sky Cauldron's Spirit)
Fen Tian replied coolly, "I continue to live to keep you suppressed."
"Suppress me? You, an insignificant creature, dare say you’ll suppress me? Die!" the fog roared, forming a massive hand that reached toward Fen Tian. In response, he summoned a gigantic cauldron, which unleashed flames to counter the black fog.
“Ha! Fen Tian, that cauldron of yours is weaker than before,” the fog sneered.
"Oh, is that so?" Fen Tian's eyes flared, and the cauldron released eight crimson beams, filling the air with swirling magma.
“What are you all waiting for? Aid me now!” the demon in the fog commanded. Cheng Pu and the others attacked Fen Tian with their strongest techniques, and, outnumbered nine to one, Fen Tian began to falter, as if he was about to be subdued.
"Fen Tian! This time, I’ll seal you here forever!" the fog shouted triumphantly.
"In your dreams," Fen Tian muttered, resolved to burn his remaining Samsara power to take some of them with him. He raised his hand, and the crimson mountains around him began to blaze as if they were ready to incinerate everything.
As the black fog and crimson light clashed, the air filled with a hissing sound and a stench like burning flesh.
"Fen Tian, you’re finished!" the demon in the fog gloated. Just as Fen Tian seemed resigned, the space in front of him twisted, and suddenly, a figure in white appeared. A vortex formed in his hand, devouring the black fog and dispelling the threat.
Stunned, Cheng Pu and his group turned to see the figure. Their pupils contracted in shock—it was Chen Xuan!
Cheng Pu had expected Chen Xuan to arrive after ten more minutes, enough time to seal Fen Tian and then deal with him. But here he was, far sooner than anticipated.
"Chen Xuan! Leave! This has nothing to do with you!" Cheng Pu shouted, his eyes filled with killing intent.
Ignoring him, Chen Xuan looked at Fen Tian. "Are you alright, senior?"
"Thankfully, you arrived in time; otherwise, they would have sealed me," Fen Tian replied, surprised that someone had come to his aid.
What shocked him even more was the power Chen Xuan had used—it felt like the Devouring Force. Could he be a successor of the Devouring Master?
Relieved, Chen Xuan turned his gaze back to Cheng Pu and his group. "It seems you’re demons."
"You figured it out?" Cheng Pu sneered.
Chen Xuan looked at him coldly. "Answer one question, and I’ll spare you some pain."
"Oh, you want to know about the fate of Ling Qingzhu?" Cheng Pu smirked mockingly.
Chen Xuan’s eyes narrowed. "Speak."
"If you want to know, join us. Then we’ll tell you everything," Cheng Pu replied. Wang Su and the others chimed in, trying to persuade him.
"Yes, with the Symbol Ancestor gone, how will you contend with us?"
"The Demon Clan is the true ruler of the Tianxuan Continent. Join us now, and once our emperor descends, you’ll be rewarded handsomely."
"Exactly. Forget about one Ling Qingzhu. When our emperor is pleased, we can bring you women more beautiful than her from other realms!"
They believed Chen Xuan could be swayed by such temptations. The demon in the fog remained silent, its gaze fixed on Fen Tian with hatred.
Hearing their words, Fen Tian grew anxious. "Young friend, the demons are ruthless; don’t believe them!"
"Enough, Fen Tian! Keep quiet!" the demon in the fog growled in warning.
