It's tiiiiime!

So this is 18 minutes long, based on a chapter from "How to Build a Feminist" with a little extra sprinkled in. If you can make it to the premiere that would be lovely! Hope to see you there! Woooooooo!

I saw My Fair Lady several times as a child and thought, until recently, that it had one of the best endings in cinema - only to realize upon rewatching it that I had entirely made up a different ending in my head. In my version, the two have a bumpy attempt at romance which leads both of them to hit up against their own limits and each others' out-of-touch expectations. They come out of the ordeal with their egos bruised and tired of the now obvious romantic mismatch. In the final scene, Eliza returns to the residence and the professor pokes his head in the entryway as Eliza is halfway up the stairs, and says, "Welcome home" with a calm but wieghty tenderness that indicates the hostilities are over and Eliza is welcome to stay for as long as she likes. The two look at each other with a new-found mutual respect. Eliza smiles and nods her acceptance and continues up the stairs to her room. The movie ends with the audience left to understand the pair will live together as friends and flatmates - a sort of found family. They've both gained the humility to accept one another's flaws as well as their own.

I posted this on an enby discord I’m in, and someone replied with this highly pertinent takedown of the makeover trope: https://youtu.be/H2lmojePnA0
