Potential issue discovered, archive created
Added 2024-01-04 22:21:15 +0000 UTCTLDR; an archive has been created. your risk is 0, provided you follow the basic OPSEC recommendations I have given already. This is a disclosure statement so you have enough information to be properly informed. No actions are required by you
Afternoon all. Someone has brought to my attention a Russian archiving site that has created backups of the Patreon posts. I have started an investigation and found the following:
- It doesn't appear to be malicious, no external links. It appears someone was joining in the bottom tier 1$ tier then archiving the Patreon, as they don't seem to have archives of the weeks where they were not included. There has been no increase in Patreon QNA viewership above the levels expected with the current membership.
- There has been 0 outside references to it, so with the viewership and backlink activities, it's not being monitored in any way.
- If you have followed the basic OPSEC I had provided during the last breach when one of our members had last year, there is 0 risk to you or your private information. As always, use a different account username than you use for other social media sites, make sure you don't provide personal identifying information, always change locations and names for your own protection, and don't offer your contact information or details to other members. I will never ask for an off site contact info and you should never trust anyone else who does.
- All financial and Patreon exclusive information is not affected. This is only the ability to read the main page that you can logon to. You don't have to take any action on your part to be secured. Access controls are working as intended.
Rest assured I'm taking steps to get the archive removed, and have run a check through membership to ensure that this archive doesn't continue, this message is a disclosure statement to inform you of the situation and that all steps are being taken to ensure your safety and privacy.
If there is anything further required, I will amend this message. If you have any questions, post them here and I will respond by next business day.
Regards
Rian

To reiterate, this is why I preach opsec. These sort of things are never a matter of "if" only "when". I appreciate everyone taking appropriate precautions.
