2029 December Hayley Pages

Giving characters voice is my favorite thing. There's a real charm to Hayley and Daisy, and I think it's from the development and depth they have. We'll see them again soon, following up on what they're talking about!

“Cmon Hayley, it could be fun. We need jobs, like, I don’t want to be a burden on my mom much longer. Don’t you feel the same about Roger?”

“Daisy. You know I agree with you on this.”

“Then let’s go at it together! We can come up with a few ideas, even if we’re not trying to be co-workers. It could be fun!”

“Coming up with career ideas on New Year’s eve an hour before midnight is hardly what I’d count as ‘fun’.” Hayley says.

“True, true. Then how about I come over your place, your birthday is soon and we were gonna hang anyway!”

“I’m down for that, yeah.”

“But tell me about Christmas. Did you have a good holiday?” Hayley asks, sipping a drink.

“You bet. The café was closed, so I didn’t have to work. We had grandma over, Ay and Bea, plus Joyce. You?”

“Glad to hear your mom and her girlfriend are doing good. Roger had his parents on a video call. We otherwise enjoyed a quieter Christmas, which is our preference.”

“Nice! I bet they can see the size difference just by your faces being close.” With a giggle, Daisy continues. “Met them in person yet?”

“Don’t remind me… I’ve been introduced, once. But that was years ago when we’d just started dating. They live quite a few states away so I haven’t had to explain…”

“…That you’ve grown into an amazon?” Daisy interjects, finishing the thought. “We’re becoming hard to hide, I thought that you of all people would want to show off. No?”

“Well yeah but it’s his parents… I’m nervous.”

“They’ll love you. And it’s Roger’s choice, not theirs.”

“You’re ahead of your years sometimes Daisy. Alright, I’ll talk to Roger…hm?” Turning, Hayley and Daisy notice a countdown begin as the ball on TV begins to drop. At the stroke of midnight a new year has arrived, 2030 already looking bright.
