2021-09-03 20:07:32 +0000 UTCSo, in the US, there's a massive push to make transgender an officially recognized thing with all the legalities entailed. People in favor of it point to psychology, depression, denial of oneself, and a bunch of other factors. People against it point to things like "get rid of the stereotypes instead", physical performance in gender-divided sports, risk of system abuse and deception, and more besides. Both sides of the argument have valid points to consider, but because USA is now the world capital of outrage culture you can't get a decent sit-down-and-talk to save your life. It's all shouting matches and contentious ramifications with no one willing to be a rational adult about the divide.
