There's a really cool detail that was in the manga but not in the anime, unfortunately. At some point while Tanjiro was stabbed in the jaw by Gyutaro, Gyutaro tries to pull the sickle out but Tanjiro is preventing him from taking it out. This is Tanjiro mirroring Rengoku's refusal to let Akaza escape in the movie.
