Jujutsu Kaisen S1 Ep 2

Can't believe I called Todoroki "Takadori" LOL it's cause of Ron!!!

Jujutsu Kaisen S1 Ep 2

Comments

I'm coming into watching this series late, but I can try to clarify the Japanese honorifics in case there's still any confusion. Senpai = senior/upperclassman. In a school setting it refers to someone in a grade higher than yours. In a work setting, it refers to someone that is a mentor, so someone that has been at the company longer. The other side of this is a Kouhai, which is a junior/underclassman. I've read that these honorifics start being used around middle school age.

Ron should maybe drink some coffee or something that makes him ready to follow a show. Many anime throw a lot of information at you in the early episodes, to set the stage for the main story.

Thamor

I’m so excited for you guys to start the series! I also began watching it not a long ago and still have two episodes left! Can’t wait to experience this journey with you guys with JKK! Lots of love 💕

Rocío Sotelo

Yuji sounds familiar because his voice actor voiced Rengokus brother, Senjuro.

For some words and translations: Senpai/Sempai(Japanese) - Senior ~ Sunbae(Korean) Sensei(Japanese) - Teacher ~ Sunsei-nim(Korean, where nim is a form of respect to the title) Hyung(Korean) - Elder brother(male to male) ~ Aniki/ Onii-san/ Ani (Japanese, where san is a suffix after the title) Japanese have even more levels of respect than Korean, so there are more words that would mean the same thing, but will have more level of respect. "Sama" is the highest form of respect, which almost equates it to lord. So when Inosuke used to say his name, he says "Inosuke-sama coming through!" which translated to Lord Inosuke coming through. I don't think Korean has that level of respect in the language that I know of (Pls correct me if I'm wrong).

Silvers Rayliegh

Hyon and Senpai is almost the same. Your recognition is totally right! Once I had worked with Korean guy who is older than me, I called him Hyon as I perfectly felt calling him like Senpai.

J CHANNEL

just a few more episodes before Michelle is Gojo's girl now

Soul

thank you ! sounds interesting <3

terry

In Japan there are a lot of myths and legends about Ryomen Sukuna. In some he is vilified as a monster/demon in others he is upheld as a hero/god. But there is one local legend about him that originated in the area of Japan that the author of JJK lived. The author has confirmed in interviews that this legend had a large influence on his character Sukuna. I’ll link a non spoiler video that explain that local legend if you’re interested. https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMNR1QK5B/?k=1

Mackenzie

Itadori Voice Actor also plays Senjuro from Demon Slayer ( Rengokus little brother). Lol takadori is the fusion name for yuji and todoroki???

SirGeel

true, that's better wording lol

BigLouMF

Gojo*

Zenru Renari

Not really similarities but nods to the show. And many other animes.

Zenru Renari

Yeah Ron you gotta pay attention more😂 You’re confusing things that are too easy to understand 😭😭

Zenru Renari

Michelle, I know you've stated that you've watched Bleach and even compared this to it so I felt it necessary to mention that the creator of jujutsu kaisen drew a good amount of inspiration from Bleach and you'll definitely see more similarities moving forward

BigLouMF

What I love about JJK and Demon Slayer is that they are very distinctly set in the real world, our world. And while the nature of what the main characters deal with is fantastical, the mangaka works really hard to draw it back to our reality in some way.

botanbutton

Yes! You guys were right on the dot. The more fingers of Sukuna he eats, the stronger Yuji gets but also the stronger Sukuna gets. Sukuna is the strongest curse, as he was given the title "king of curses".

Glenn

A couple things I like about JJK are the almost identical depictions of the setting for the story… It’s essentially modern day Japan, and the illustrations are spot on.. We travel to Japan quite often and this anime just gives me withdrawals every time.. The other thing I like are the character designs.. Everyone has threads, straight 🔥 without trying to do too much.. Makes me wanna up my wardrobe game fr.. 😂🤦‍♂️ PS: Michi, get yo mans onto some reading/comprehension skills..! 😂 Jk, Ron.. You know I love ya..! 😘

Ila Vaenuku

I hope Ron got some rest after this episode, he was out of it lol.

Scar

In my opinion JJK along with Demon Slayer, is the height of anime right now. A mix of animation, characters, and story sets them apart from the rest. Not that others aren't good or even great, but these two just consistently delivers it in a way that is always satisfying to me. One thing about JJK vs DS though: JJK is much harder to follow and get the details correct. There is a lot of information about the world and character development that can be hidden in very subtle ways... a couple of times it can be confusing with timelines unless one really pay very close attention. None of these things are complete negatives at all though. It enhances the experience and I learn new things on every rewatch and if one takes the time to analyze it, there are layers and layers of story and character information.

Pharal

I know you guys would love JJK because it’s within your vibe ❤️‍🔥😎 Looking forward to Ep3! 🙌🏼

Cathy

Yes I was about to say that don’t forget the JUJU Stroll 😁

chrysanthemum D

and Yuji's grandpa voice actor is Zenitsu's teacher(grandpa)

Sumire

Gawwwdamnit Ronald😤😤😤

Ryy Guy

Gojou hottieee 🔥

Jess

"Senpai" is Japanese for "senior." So basically it's for when you address an upper-classman. Likewise, "kouhai" means junior/under-classman, and "sensei" means teacher.

Phoenix

Not multiple other curses*

Jordan

You guys might missed it but he will only be eating the 20 fingers of sukuna so not multiple fingers the power you see is with 1 winger so 1/20th of sukuna power

Jordan

Michelle, the voice actor for Itadori also voices Rengoku's little brother. That may be where you've heard the voice from before.

Melker Linderoth

Off topic but I accidently randomly said Hellooo Sushi Squad around my friend once and they looked at me crazy 😂😂😂

razarize

juju sanpo :)

Maki

In Japan, burial is not illegal but it's hard to find a place to do that's why mostly dead body needs to done crementation. In this episode, Yuji (Itadori) was the only one left family of his grandpa but if there are more people, bones have to be passed by chopsticks among all family then the last person will put it in the urn. We do over and over again for every parts until the last bone which is the second cervical spine and the last bone should be picked by the most closest one of the deceased. That's why we have a (table) manner that we can't pass any of foods by chopsticks to chopsticks when we are eating. If someone pick and pass some food by chopsticks to you, you have to take it by a plate or something but not chopsticks. *It’s one of Japan’s cultural thing and I’m sure the other countries are different :)

Maki

sheesh you added my name to the shoutout list so quick, thanks michelle!

Killua X

i just wanted to let you guys know that at the end of some of the episodes there are clips similar to taisho secrets and “nin-nin.” i don’t remember what there called in jjk but there are definitely some, so be on the lookout for them

Carter Gavigan

I feel like you are going to love Jujutsu K 🥳🥳 can’t wait!

Jennifer Ch

Senpai is an expression of respect to someone older or with more experienced than you in school, work places, social or sport clubs...

Erika Aelxandra Ortiz

Senpai typically refers to someone who has been doing something longer than you. An example would be an upperclassman in school or somebody who has been at your current work place longer than you. Culturally the Japanese put a big emphasis on respect and formality towards your senpai, since they have been doing the same thing you're currently doing for a longer period. But if you become close to your senpai, those cultural emphases towards formality can become more lax depending on the type of bond you have with them. Being a senpai is also seen as a leader or guiding role as well, so you're expected to be a good senpai to your kouhai (basically the opposite of a senpai). That being said, I loved the reaction y'all and I'm excited for the next episode! The 3rd freshman is awesome and I can see Michelle really liking her. P.S. Gojo is the best character in the whole show 🤣

Travis Teague

Senpai means senior, like a student from a higher class or grade than yours. It can also refer to someone who has been learning from your sensei or teacher longer than you have.

Prateek Sridhar

Jojo isn't blind and senpai means someone from upper class.

FW

What device are you watching on? My IPad says it doesn’t exists but on my phone the video plays.

Michael

Is it only me that it tells me that the video does not exists?
