The "Hold me" line does make more sense as well as the clarification of it being a deal between pochita and Denji.

I initally thought the idea was simple but its unorthodox in every facet and unpredictable and has become my favorite manga/anime so far so plz bear with the gore Michille because its worth it its probably gonna be the anime of the year P.S. Every outro for every episode is going to be a different song

2022-10-12 05:07:13 +0000 UTCOk, so I reread the first chapter to try and give better insight without giving spoilers - but the anime actually did a really great job at adapting it almost exactly like the manga. There are a few differences, like he says “Hold Me” in the manga, not “Hug Me” but that’s not really important. When it comes to Pochita merging with Denji, in the manga Pochita says, “I’ve always loved listening to you talk about your dreams. This is a contract. I’ll give you my heart, in exchange…show me your dreams” So the contract was that Pochita (The Chainsaw Devil) gave Denji his heart. He didn’t take over Denji’s consciousness because he wants to continue seeing Denji dream. That’s all I can really say without giving up too much. They will explain a lot but if it goes by chapters, it might be a while until you get a lengthy in depth explanation as to what happened. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I’ll try to explain with what the manga provides without giving spoilers.
