guys in s1 it was revealed that Marco's ODM gear was in Annie's possession that alone indicated that this trio is somehow involved in Marco's death I dunno if you remember but this is Marco's corpse state: half of his torso was eaten and his ODM gear was missing + allegedly no one witnessed his death or knew what happened

Marco was in their training group IIRC and was fairly close to Jean. He's the one who told Jean he's a good leader because he's weak, and Jean found his body a few episodes ago eaten up when the Doctor was asking if she knew his name to confirm for the death toll.

At this point, new watchers don't know what that is but I'm sure even to them, they can see how emotionally stressed and damaged all of this is to the so-called bad guys.
