Its really up to them to decide if they are brainwashed or taken advantage of. However, the Valhalla thing is pretty similar to the Christian crusades. The Pope basically said, "Hey, if any of you men help us take back the holy land, you'll be given guaranteed access to heaven." So yea, using the promise of a happy afterlife to convince peeps to abandon their basic humanity is fairly common.

2023-01-08 22:55:19 +0000 UTCFrom American history class - Leif Erickson was the first known non native to discover North America in 1000 AD he called it Vinland and founded Newfoundland which still exists in Canada. (This was 492 years before Columbus!! But we have a holiday for that guy)

2022-12-29 16:38:21 +0000 UTCVinland Saga's soundtrack and backgrounds are sooo dope! Fun fact: Season 1 is animated by Wit Studios who animated Attack on Titan Seasons 1-3. Season 2 (airing in January 2023) is gonna be animated by MAPPA, but the majority of the staff that worked on season 1 with Wit Studios have moved over to MAPPA so it's basically the same team working on the new season.

2022-12-29 16:34:53 +0000 UTCFYI, the manga and anime are loosely based on stories from Icelandic folklore called "The Vinland Sagas", which were written in the 13th century, based on events that occurred 2 centuries before that. If you see some exaggeration of character's strengths and abilities, that's normal, because the original stories do the same (although this is common in anime as well). Obviously, don't google for the Icelandic original if you don't want to get spoiled. :)

He also later sailed most of the other Carribean islands and the coasts of Central America and northern South America. The area that's now the US was first discovered by Giovanni Caboto, typically known as John Cabot to Americans today.

You're probably better relating these characters to the old legends they were based on than characters that share their name in other viking shows though. They have a lot more similarities to the legends than the show Vikings for instance. I know you probably don't know much about those legends, and that's fine, just don't expect everyone to behave the way you expect from other things you've seen lol

2022-12-27 23:10:53 +0000 UTCI loved this show, read the manga on release years ago and when the anime came out it sadly got overlooked by a lot because Demon Slayer was the top hit of the season, but the story and world building and characters just make it so much more appealing then really anything else that I have watched

Its exact location is not known, but it was probably the area surrounding the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in what is now eastern Canada. Love you guys <3
